Yh. Not impressed by his treatment either. Ron Dennis seems to be bending over backwards to accomodate Alonso's arrival into the team. You know, Alonso, the devious backstabbing git that Ron couldn't force himself to speak to after paying him to f.o anywhere else some years ago when amongst other less savoury things, he threw his toys out of the pram cos Lewis was getting equal treatment and had the nerve to beat him. Doubtless, Honda have Ron's arm up behind his back too as they would very much like to have someone of Alonso's undoubted marketability onboard. Jense is so last week and unlike Magnussen, and as an ex World champ, doesn't drive for cheap. At a rumoured 40+ million a year contract for the "i don't know nothing about nothing" ex Renault "crashgate" benificiary and allegedly innocent Alonso, even Ron will want to be saving a few bob. Shabby stuff. But money and business have few if any morals.
He may well have more fun elsewhere, our gentleman Jenson, but F1 is the pinacle of motorsport, the fastest, (nothing comes close to a F1 cars performance on track and we all want to drive the fastest stuff don't we?) and the most prestigous. Anything else is a step back off the percieved peak. He will miss it...for a while. Good run J.B. F1 World Champion 2009

I wish Indy hadn't gone to shit over the last 20 years. It would awesome to see someone like Button come to the states and blow us all away like Mansell did in the early 90's.

So ik u all know but just say Hamo steps into Nicos car in F1 final GP. he dies 20 laps in, Nico wins & is WDC, only due to dubbbble points in final round, the dumbest idea since....(i got plenty of unprintable personal examples)

Ditched for next year DAM, as is the equally dumb standing start that was proposed after certain types of safety car situation. Just little things like getting enough cars on the grid, dwindling bums on seats trackside, falling tv audiences and such to sort.
Was amused to see a recent promo video by Honda that was meant to hype their return to F1 in the back of a McLaren. The miracles of video editing barely managed to obscure the fact that they struggled to get it started at all and completed just 2 or 3 veeeeeery slooooow laps in the 2 day test and film shoot. It can only get better.

Oh fk yeh. Id forgotten about the restart bs rule. Probably takes the cake as dumbest rule, I can see where double points came from but the standing restart is corruption if I ever knew any. Hey bruno I was annoyed 10 min ago yoyoing on n offline but hearing that is great news. Any1 hear bout Newie to Ferrari via Sebs contract? I think I saw start of that honda McC on Fb, Hear Hondas blah etc. Only 10 sec max, not great but they'll be better by Albert Park. Gee im happy now. I'll try my luck with psn gta soon. But standing restarting is allowing Race directors to dictate, manipulate and basically bernie every race. Be happy wen he eccs off from f1 too.

First of all DAM you need to find a permanent way of hard wiring ur ps to teh internets innit m8. Make the kids use the wireless connexion and the Mrs love ethernet cable trailing over everything everywhere.
I gotta admit to being a bit of a fan, in the main, of wee Bernie tbh. He has been around the sport seemingly forever and over the years has convinced major companies, conglomerates and even countries to bung gazillions of whatever their local currency is, at himself and the sport we love, so that a relatively few people can indulge in their slightly odd passion of whizzing round in circles in state of the art 4 wheelers of a week-end and even, shock!, horror!, make a few bob doing it. I think underneath the James Bondesque villain persona the media (*spits) portrays, lies a man who really loves the game too and has made people who really couldn't give a crap about it, pay him, the teams and racers, shed loads of dosh to do what they like to do best. Go racing. Hats off to the old fox.
If he still had the power he once had we would not be listening to expensive hoovers right now. That was a decision from the manufacturers who only want to "move product" and who clearly have absolutely no understanding, passion or love for the sport. If they get their hands on the reigns the games scuppered.

Just read that Jenson is apparently signed alongside Alonso for next season. Happy for that, sad for Magnussen but I am sure time is on his side and he will get another go. Can't imagine Alonso being overjoyed. Good.

Kvyat is a good fit at RB. I do yhink Magnuson got shafted, but he showed his talent and should get another chance.I wish drivers were signed because of talent instead of money. There's too many pay drivers taking spots from the young talent.

Yeh McClaren, effectively killed off a career in a way. I wanted to see JB with FA the coming seasons for instant results, but in saying that Magussen could've easily achieved similar results. If I ran McClaren I would've arranged for the youngster to drive for another team, (even on loan, soccer style) not strong enough to beat McClaren, but not too weak as to scar him with losing mentality. I wouldn't have hung him out to dry, that's why I thought button had to be going. Sad all round in my opinion.

Only in a perfect world. Was disgusted when i first heard that you need money and sponsors to race in Formula 1. I know it happens in every series but its so known by everyone it doesnt faze anyone. I wonder what quality of racing we would have in F1 if money didnt matter. Prime opportunity for Haas F1 to pick up an amazing driver in Magnussen tho. A year off maybe to help get Haas setup and back to racing for Magnussen seems like a likely option. Sad to see drivers like Maldomadman on the grid because of money and have promising talent shunned.

I bet Mag, with news of Honda joining Mclaren again, wouldve thought he had a chance to be the next Senna. All shot down now. Though all this is purely based on an article trak read that Alonso and Button are together, got the source trak?

Yeah well after his first yr results looked promising for him SPEEDSTER0595 . if i was id been looking at breaking the wins in a yr record of 16 or 18 (whichever it is) Haha But either way, they left 1 of their contracted drivers out in the cold, either a possible star of the future or a former champion.

BBC SPORT SPEED. Maybe slightly premature (officially, media meant to be told later today) but unlike the beeb to be previous. Mag may get taken on as 3rd driver for McLaren and will surely get the drive next year if so. He's only 22. I don't believe he will get dismissed by F1 as some others have been.
Whole business has shown a pretty shoddy treatment of both drivers by McLaren in any case. Both deserved better. Jenson's season was much better, pointswise, than Mag's and in the last race race assured McLaren of shed loads of extra dosh they wouldn't otherwise have had for next season plus, according to beeb, he has taken a large wage cut. I suspect a lot of politics behind the scenes. We will never know the whole story.

The good news for Mags is that he's going to be the teams reserve drive and will be racing Super GT for Honda. It seems to me they plan to bring him back in the future. Alsono and Massa both had a year off after their rookie seasons and things seem to have worked out alright for them.

Just read the article trak , there and ESPNF1, looks like its a one year contract for Button, and maybe we get Mag and Alonso in 2016? Speaking of Massa, 2015 looks like the year he and Bottas ge a win or two, maybe even contend for a title?

Two year contract for Button, two years (plus option) for Alonso, although it's rumoured he has a 'get out of jail free' option if certain performance levels aren't reached in season 1.
Good news as I think Button is a quality driver, but I've never been keen on him as a person since he arrived in F1, stating that it won't change him, then promptly dumped his childhood sweetheart and moved to Monaco. He does come across as a nice guy in interviews though. Just wish he'd been more open and honest to start with. 'Yeehah! Look at my monies! LOOK AT MY MONIES! Fuck you British taxpayer, fuck you love of my life, WHERE'S ALL THE BURDS!'

If what Deej describes is true of Jenson, i wouldnt be surprised if he's in bed with Bernie
EDIT: Maybe thats why he got to keep his place at McLaren...

Just a little post updating the state of play in F1 at the moment. Rules tweaks for 2015 include: 4 engines rather than 5 allowed for the season. Alterations to front end dimensions (less ugly noses). Dry minimum weight increased (less need for driver to be a midget or anorexic). Double points and post safety car grid restart dropped. A few other minor insignificant tweaks I cba to type out Perhaps most significantly. A "loophole" has conveniently been found in the regulations that will allow engine manufacturers to go completely nuts with any and all redesigns/updates throughout the year, as long as they have the huge wads of cash to finance them. This now Includes Honda, who as newcomers, originally looked to have missed out on this expensive but necessary perk. Worth bearing in mind that Mercedes can also go nuts on the unit everybody is desperate to catch up with . Good for the game in my opinion although the increased cost of latest spec power units to the teams that do pay for them, if they are even given the option, may exacerbate the haves/have not divide.

I came across a link to that post somewhere recently too Trak. A good read I thought, with loopholes and ground breaking rule changes like the cars will be 1kg lighter this year? The Engine Loophole was mentioned in the same sentence as Korean GP, which was regarding 'will Sepang host F1 this year or not?' So maybe its linked to that somehow, idk. I've read since that the answer is 'No' So the teams who can exploit the rule book the best, will as often happens, be 2015 wcc. . If Mercedes Benz want to win bad enough, they've got what's needed to produce the winning cars.

Korea was only provisionally put on the calendar because Bernie was legally obliged to do so. It is now predictably off, by the Koreans own request, thus saving Bernie any legal wranglings should they not have been offered the opportunity by a premature removal from the calendar. Sepang is the Malaysian circuit and is on . Cars dry weight will be up from 691kg to 702kg. All power unit manufacturers now have free rein to change whatever they like. Had they found themselves unable to do that, Mercedes would have been the only manufacturer exploiting the less than helpful homologation rules that would have denied them all the ability to fully implement lessons learned about the new technologies over the past year and get on to more even terms.

Idk why I said Sepang, the layouts are nothing alike each other. I think me old noggin just scanned thru the races I'm able to watch during the daytime. Idk, I did like the Korean track, long straight, technical etc. On the weight, they said in the post I'd read, something had changed weight, Anyways, Good to hear Sepangs back on lol

15 sec clip of the CCTV inside Red Bull F1 HQ, was expecting more carnage as that was what was described. Doesnt look like a 4x4, unless you count a Subaru Legacy Wagon a 4x4, sort of how R* counts a regular Dubsta as offroad.

That must have been Ricciardo's third place trophy from Monaco. I love how he looks at that trophy and then just tosses it, "Fookin' 3st place? Wot shite."
