I still miss the smell of leaded racing fuel. I probably inhaled a fair amount of asbestos brake dust being in the pits as a kid too, lol. At some point in the future the internal combustion engine will go away altogether and we'll get to here the sound of near silence as the electric cars go by. I know they paved the parabolica for safety reason with moto gp, but they should lay down temporary dirt there to keep the F1 guys from intentionally running off track. Speakers that produce combustion engine sounds, a good idea for a future millionaire. Ill volunteer and bring a dump truck of sand : D damn motogp

Apparently not MotoGP guys fault (since they don't go there ) nor WSB (who do) but the good old FIA. From what I have seen in practice sessions though, it is not causing the abuse of track limits that have emasculated Spa Francorchamps for example. Smells. Castrol R (veg. oil) in anything but two strokes especially mmmmmmmmmmmm!. Used to put a capful in our Yamahas just to get that aroma . One particular year at Silverstone the stink pervading the circuit during F1 was positively toxic. Chemically closer to napalm than pump fuel the following years tighter restrictions on fuel likely saved many spectators from some serious stink related health issues. The speakers that produce combustion engine sounds thing?. Sorry, too late . I think there may already be road cars or at least add on kits that allow one to change the in car engine sound to ones taste and if there is'nt yet it is certainly something that is being looked at for the near future . Imagine tootling along in your Nissan Micra, pushing a button and hearing Ayrtons v12 Honda or Nelson Piquets 9 mile 1300bhp plus 'qually BMW from the eighties. . ( 9 mile because that's how long it would last with the wastegate jammed open for qualifying.

A super Sunday of Racing entertainment!. Brilliant Italian GP, good World Super Bikes races including the exceptional Supersports round) and finally, 2 wheeled artistry and big nuts aplenty on show at the British SuperBike rounds from Donington. Some could write a whole book about the plethora of examples of intelligent instinctive overtaking genius on display today. Oh, and Lulu (Lewis Hamilton) won . Woohooo!.

Top Fuel and funny car dragsters, that's a sound like nothing else. They're so loud that it hurts without ear protection. When they hit the gas you can feel it in your chest; it's pure power. Pretty boring on TV, but a real sensory overload in person.

Very happy the g.o.a.t (Valentino Rossi) won his first home GP at Misano for five years this weekend. The boy wonder (Marquez) dropped it trying to keep up and team mate Lorenzo could'nt match him either. Well done oldish guy

Formula E is an absolute joke!
Next to no sound from the cars, speeds no faster than 100mph, terrible selection of tracks bar one or two, a Twitter-based 'fan boost' system, and a DJ of all things subbing the lack of sound! A bunch of has-beens, failed F1 youngsters and sons of former champs driving in a piss poor attempt to bridge the gap between the eco-nutters and racers.
I understand that a series like this has to start from somewhere and it's going to have some teething problems early on, but I can't see this lasting any longer than A1GP did.
Thoughts?

No sound. No interest. Have seen and heard most that the motorsports world has to offer and this fat PC bird ain't never gonna fly. Garauntee it.
Find it incomprehensible that the powers that be clearly don't understand the positive impact that sound, at a motor racing event of all things, has on an audience.
As mentioned, seen and heard most things motor sporty. Top fuel Dragsters, 70's MV augustas, 250cc 6 cyl Hondas, 750 4cyl 2stroke TZ Yamahas, F1, LeMans sportscars, DTM, BTCC, MotoGP, WSB, WRC the list goes on. Heck, I even chose to own a sports Ducati, chipped and expensively race exhausted that I would occasionally blat through local tunnels, about face and re-blat just to hear the sound bouncing off the walls, in part because it sounded way better than the UJM alternatives. Never got a pull on it despite it being clearly off the richter scale, even plod liked it. All had their unique memorable sound signature. The Sound is the primary reason I have donated freely to the make Bernie richer show over the years. Would not waste time, petrol or cash to watch that shizzle. I would worry that I had gone deaf. Don't think I'm the only one either. Would, and have, primarily paid to see just one F1 car do a demo for 3 laps or so at Brands Hatch though as did many others who all, as is traditional, stood to attention to watch these 100+ years in the making, cutting edge examples of mans relentless development of the horseless carriage and the Otto cycle internal combustion engine, pass by, even though they could stay sat and see perfectly well.
Can't imagine anyone getting erect for a super tuned Dyson.

For an electric series to work the cars need to be driven on short courses so that the lack of top speed isn't as apparent, and the strong torque and acceleration is noticeable.
And if nothing else they need to fake the sound. For christ's sake, there's a reason boys put playing cards in their bicycle spokes.

I've seen those engine sound gimmick things. They run off the engine revs. The 1 I saw had choices like GT500 Bugatti veyron porsche gt3 cup range rover etc. Its a little bit show pony of device for me. A nice lumpy big bored 4 or 6 cylinder can sound nice. Can't beat the tones of a V8 though in my mind. And yeh we used cut up ice cream containers in our spokes

I'll have to get back to you SPEEDSTER0595, ik I've seen it, as it was a full page ad in a car mag. It would've been 1yr ago now, roughly n I got heaps of mags but il find it 4 ya np, jus gimme a day or 2. Ok SPEEDSTER0595. I looked over a mag during breakfast& realise it will take sum time to find the original advertisement, so googled it & this was 1st similar application I saw. Now although I'm 90% sure the device I saw advertised had at least 8 engine settings, I could be wrong as memory isn't 1 of my strong points. But when I find original advert I'll post that. This is a link to a similar device. Hmmm not letting me paste link from ph. The products name is "SoundRacer" Googling that should take you to the page. I just looked and there's an android app too.

Heartening to see that Singapore GP winner Lewis Hamilton would have preferred to have had a proper ding dong race with his team mate who dnf'd rather than the fairly comfy win he had instead. Class. More or less level in championship now. 5 to go including double pointer in Abu Dhabi.

No. I hope that the double points don't even factor into the championship. It feels too gimmicky to me. A championship should be awarded based on consistency throughout the season, not the results an any individual race.

Moto GP of Aragon, wow what a race. Seemed to have it all, great start with plenty of passing and the rain during the last 5 laps made it exciting too. Great to see non regular podium, Well done and great rides to the 3, especially Alexis and Cal. (Probably easier for me to enjoy the whole event now that Aust doesn't have a genuine title contender)
On double points for final round, I remember thinking after Melb round 1 that it'd be a shame if a youngster such as Magnussen lost the WDC to one of the current WDCs such as Vettel by a point or two just because of double points rule. It didn't take long for me to realise that wouldn't be happening with Mercedes dominance.

Yup. Watched highlights of Aragon last night. Very entertaining. Nothing quite like a bike for looking like a hero one second and a twat the next is there. Bumhole puckered up in sympathy with Rossi's exit. Been there done that. Nice to see huge gonads on shit bike can still get a result. Nice one Cal.
Casey Stoner. Worth the price of admission just to see him abuse whatever was underneath him on the day. Much as I would Marquez now, as it turns out.
Hoping that double points b.s doesn't result in any injustices being served at seasons end is all.

Just like to announce that the V8SC Bathurst Mt Panorama round is this weekend. Usually has some nice racing. Later this morning is qualifying followed by the top ten shoot out (1 lap) Anyways they don't drive em like they used to. In the 70s (sports classics) they drifted around corners. Here's a ford Falcon. Family sedan with attitude lol. The first corner and cars behaviour across skyline and the cutting, idk I just love it. They don't post quick laps sliding abouts these days. So clinically boring tbh. The Driver in this clip is named Dick Johnson 17. He's won bathurst twice, though plenty of bad luck, off the top of my head hes 1. Hit a rock 2. Hit tow truck at blind corner. 3 well this clip only goes 1.50, the lap back then was 2.30. 4 I think I remember he was being interviewed as he's driving the opening laps, & no shit, the rear spoiler flies off as hes going down conrod straight. Lol. Hes got plenty.
Dick Johnsons 1983 Bathurst Top Ten Qualifying Lap:
Another race done n dusted. Seemed to have more heartbreak than usual this year too. (I'll put a spoiler alert here for anyone who plans on watching it later) Chad Mostert and Paul Morris (raced in BTCC late 90s) qualified dead last. Morris put the Falcon into the wall on the first corner he faced. A Nissan which went into the wall twice did ok too. They finished 1st n 2nd after several bigger teams gambled on fuel and lost. A kiwi, Van Giz had 23 second lead on lap 150. Pitted next lap for a splash n dash. Stalled & couldn't start it, poor bloke. A red bull car was leading with only a few laps remaining, pit chief was continously saying to save fuel, without any indication the driver heard the message until the last lap. Then at the start of conrod straight the young rookie slipped past into the lead for the first time in the race. The RBR car ran dry & finished 5th. Good to see youngsters pull of the win. After the race he said 'Next year we won't worry about qualifying, we'll just save our tyres for the race' lol (1st time anyone has ever won from last place on the grid)

Haha. This race will be on here in a few hours (if its this weekends SC) Yeah I didn't expect to see kensith starting it (pathetic matt, u didn't even floor him lol. Brad hardly flinched from the initial shot) But I thought BK had grown out of that bs. I remember a few years ago BK & Carl Edwards were putting each other over the safety fencing every 2nd week. Crazy shtt man. Smoke, that sprint car drama has calmed him down. I was expecting the highlights to start when they said 2 hit 14. But no, he just politely returned serve, no helmet toss or nothing. He's mellowed lol

Sorry to spoil it for u dam lol Kenseth is a pretty laid back guy, but he was pretty pissed first at Nascar for making him start at the rear then at Brad.
BK is a little bitchy princess expects everyone to yield to him. Those crashes were dangerous, shows u what happens when tempers flare at 200mph Brad was totally wrong, Denny matt and smoke were right in retaliating, smokes was funny, really messed up BKs car, which ran great. Wanted a helmet toss lol!
Gotta feel for stewart tho, rough few weeks.
