Questions and Answers Here's how this thread works. I post really stupid questions I have about ps4 and you all contribute to enlightening the elderly re: the proper use of new fangled doodads. My starter for many stupid questions: ps3 friends appear on ps4 and it looks like I can pm them. True or false and can they message me back?. Bimbling off to ps4 random ineptitude in a tic. Will doubtless be back to edit in even stupider questions later.

You can message them, they can't message back.

You can message them, they can't message back. Why did this never come up when Don was still on 3? The missed opportunities...

Unless its been changed in an update you can message them and they CAN message you back.
Only weirdness is on PS4 freinds list everyone shows, even PS3 friends, whereas on a PS3 friend list only the ps3 guys show online and the ps4 guys appear offline.... for some, very, very strange reason.
PS: Apologies for kicking you out of your own car last night in that race Trak... I was merely cocking about as you seemed to be preoccupied! You left shortly afterwards, I hope it didn't have anything to do with me!

Hmm, when PS4 first came out I couldn’t respond to messages sent from the 4 that I received on the PS3. Maybe this was fixed with an early update.

Did I mention my memory is not what it used to be Don?. I forget.
My next ps4 question is why am I not getting spammed with race invites?. Is the matchmaking that screwed up or are you all doing something else?. also....
WHY ME!!!!. P.s4 woke itself up from stone cold properly OFF last night and tried to puke non existent discs out till morning. Fairly common problem apparently. Could probably have fixed it myself it turns out (good old youtube/google) but I had already decided it didn't like me and I couldn't trust it to behave so I took it back to GAME today and got another one.
Lost several hours of " The Last of Us" and the necessary to get online SP GTA 5 game-play because I had wiped it's memory ready for return to the shop, before thinking to upload the saves to p.s+cloud first.
Timing is everything. DOH!

Yes, matchmaking is that screwed.
Some us are still heisting for bonuses too. *looks over at Coach, Austin and Mackenizie*

That sucks T. There is a lot of R* fail about atm, that'd be the vast bulk of the problem, but I also think activity is wildly sporadic these days. Seems like there's either 3 people in a lobby or 13. Time of day has a lot of sway too.

Well 3/4 died on the cliff so at least we kept each other company.
Time and day seem to make a big difference. For me I've had lots of other priorities limiting my game time but hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to get some more time in.

Sucked very much less than if I had had to send it back in the post to an EBAY seller though. Chuffed I actually made a wise purchasing decision for a change by deciding to buy local.
On the lack of invitations thing.
Compared to PS3 anyway, I see loads and loads of Rummers online but receiving nothing in the way of invites. That is not a "dig" by the way, I am just a little surprised, disappointed and confused by it.
No invites to Don's daily race hosting (He just might not be doing them any more, I should really ask). No casual invites to try out a new track from anyone, for example, for which I am always readily available incidentally. Not even invites on phone from random hosts spamming auto-invite while a crew member is in their lobby. Just no invites arriving at all really. Confusing to me that matchmaking seems more dysfunctional over here than it is on PS3. Surprisingly little whining on GTAF about it either given the scale of fail, let alone a response from R* indicating they are aware of the problem and are attempting to do something about it. All available R* hands are presumably busy with the imminent PC release I guess, which should be no excuse for the continuing very broken functionality of the online game for the past few weeks.

People on GTAF are tired of bitching about it, that's why there's no recent threads. ... let alone a response from R* indicating they are aware of the problem and are attempting to do something about it.

It's actually only since the heist update it's been shonky, although the heist invite spam from the entire GTAO population was very strong... I would suggest not waiting for invites but going into the PSN friends menu, looking at players activity and clicking join if you see them 'GTAO racing'. Joining from the PSN list has been MUCH more reliable. If you stay on their profile for a handful of seconds, the 'join' icon will appear in the box where it tells you what they're playing. It's possible that you will then be more likely to get into subsequent races with them. It will save you from having to send msgs asking if people are racing or to send invites. It is strange that you're getting no invites at all mind you. I had that Wednesday but will usually at least get invites from randoms or something. Then again, Thursday when I was hosting I couldn't see Dave online at all, I only knew he was looking to join from Skype. Had that pretty often, I've needed a PSN heads up a few times too. The other side of it is that with the timer permanently enabled in PLs now, there's not normally time between races for invites to register. Joining thru PSN should get you in to spectate and be present for the rest of the list tho.
Hope for a R* fix, yada yada. Online stability has generally been much improved on NG, peoples home net notwithstanding, but this has been a big pain.

Well, many joining problems still but the party method does seem to do the trick most of the time. From now on (in lieu of a proper fix) I'm gonna start or join a party whenever I'm online and doing stuff. If you see me in one and wanna connect up with whoever I'm with, the party will be there. If you have any trouble getting into the party or joining through it, just let me know at the time.

Here's a dumb one.
Can you opt to sign in to psn manually after turning ps4 on. Seems to be an automatic sign in although I have seen the manual "sign out" option.
Edit: Never mind. Sorted.

I'm not 100% about this but isn't rock☆ social club like a cloud storage thing?

Yes, but technically any multiplayer game that stores you progress on their servers is a cloud storage type thing. Your snapmatics, created jobs, and GTAO progress are all stored by the R* cloud. You can then access it through the SC. The SC is pretty much a read only platform since you can't change anything on it.

Sorted. one of the ways I have learnt new tricks and such , is the notifications next to your friends list on PSN menu, some handy little nuggets in there

GTA question here, I have seen recently people posting videos of GTAO on to the Social Club, how can you do this ?
EDIT - Seems like a PC only option

Would someone please be good enough to very simply spell out the workaround(s)for GTAO's almost complete inability to invite players into anything from in-game at the moment.

Hmmmmmm, single races seem to be a complete bag of arse atm. Getting lots of people in seems to generally means being plugged into every available communicative outlet, waiting around for people to appear, instructing them all to join so and so, or try so and so, or maybe that other so and so, suggesting several methods of joining said so and so's then waiting for everyone to complete whatever joining process decides to work. So I've become a PL whore recently. Then it's worth me doing all the above and sitting in a lobby for half an hour. I don't think I've really bothered hosting single races for at least a few weeks. It also helps if you post on the forum that you will be running a dozen races in a weeks time and would everyone kindly turn up for them at such and such a time Creating a PSN party is obviously very easy. You can then go to the invite tab and get a more reliable list of who is online and what they're up to, inviting worthwhile candidates to the party. Once you've got a small gathering and can guarantee 3 or 4 people in a lobby, the new client invite feature is pretty handy. Keep the timer off and just get everyone to spam the invites. A lot of the time people are getting invites from different people in the lobby, there's always some who won't see the hosts invites these days. Obviously all depends on who's online on and on your FL. We do have a much more up and down active base atm, so it's not uncommon for there to be only a few of us online. Tbh I don't really know what it's like to fire up a single race and hit invite atm. Last time I did that I just sat there on my own for 5 minutes and jacked it in. I'm kind of waiting for people to post up the events they're thinking of, otherwise I'd do more. Organised meet ups are much more worthwhile these days since random activity between them is so difficult to muster. I'd quite happily fill another couple days in the week.

Done.
I really can't believe they don't know about this. This isn't the type of thing we have all intermittently dealt with at various times in the games history. This, if it as wide spread as I feel it is, will kill the online game in no time at all, guaranteed. Shocking fail really. Here, have some heists. Oooopsy, we appear to have totes nuked game. What now R*?.

Can someone tell me how to actually keep track of threads/tickets I've followed on the R* support site? Once I comment or even create a thread I can never find it again. They never show up in my requests or my subscriptions.

They never show up in my requests or my subscriptions. Just had a look for you Coach. I think if you sign in to R* support, click on community>GTAO (in this case)>following (if you have only made a comment on an issue). I think any tickets you sent in yourself show under "my activities" on R*'s support page. Hope this helps.
