This is regarding improvements to Lagging, disconnecting, weak and slow connection etc. . After the horrendous connection I've encountered recently, and with hopes of trouble free endurance and other races planned I've been trying to identify the source of my internet problems. Before I change telco companies again I was hoping to maybe compare what might be my weak link, as it's beyond reasonable to enter large races with 'the wet noodle' that is currently my connection. . Currently my lan cable is providing around 1.9Mbs/375Kbs to 6.0Mbs/775Kbs (ps4 guesstimate of downloads and upload) I connected to my phone hotspot and found increase to 10.9Mbs/1.4Mbs (roughly same as when i first tested lan setup) Although with either of these connections I've had lag of some sort, the phone was a little less though. . So I'm wondering if these figures are in the ball park of a clean connection, or maybe one of you hardcore gamers knows of what I should be looking at/replacing/upgrading to provide a stronger connection? Any ideas appreciated

I think 2MB down would be result in some choppy game play. At 10MB that should quite smoother. I've used Speakeasy to test speeds and connection quality for a while now: www.megapath.com/speedtestplus/I don't know if you'll get US or Australian options but it's worth giving a test either way. I just tested 5 separate times and the highest down was 21MB down, which is quite good for a Sunday afternoon. Lowest was around 14MB. Mo's write up is really comprehensive though so I would test and make changes based on his guide myself.

From what little I have gathered download and upload speeds are not as important to smooth non teleporting play as the time it takes for your controller inputs to get all the way from you to wherever they're meant to be going and interact with everybody else's inputs to get back to you with the onscreen information that you need to know not to ram them....Pauses for Mo to come along and say, tosh and fiddlesticks. Your turn left RIGHT NOW THIS VERY INSTANT input took the train, went through several sets of customs checks, had a cup of tea and a roo sarnie, swopped onto various other trains, swam across an ocean or 3 then made your car turn left just as, according to my screen, you needed to be turning right. Once the delay between your inputs and mine becomes too much for the thingmy bob in the middle to make it magically look as though we are actually doing stuff simultaneously, the hoojmiflip cries enough and goes phut, the needle jumps the record and we call it lag. I think Mo's article helps with ways of checking to see deets of your turn left inputs journey and ways to jolly it along with less of the fag breaks. How'd I do Mo? .

If megapath.com doesnt work try speedtest.net, it's what I use to test my internet speed.
I usually get about 6-7MBps down but if everyone in my house is using it it can go down to 2-3MBps. If its worth noting I use wireless.

I'm also on wireless and my lag has, so far, been under control. Although I have had at least 2 instances where my entire public room emptied.

Its all about PING, ups and downs are for uploading and downloading, downloading will not affect gameplay.

Yeah I found Mo's thread on lagging real helpful @traksta1 it has a few posts after it too, 1 from a local who mentioned similar problems. I've tested cable wifi and also my ph hot spot, I'll have to shaft my Isp tomorrow. But have you tried roo? If you do you'll understand why my data likes to stop for a feed of roo, it's de-lish-ous!

I'm not 100% sure nittydon but Ping seems ok on the cable (I think) 26 low 65 high and 35ms average, but the packets test (I forgot name) couldn't be completed. The ping blows out to average 135ms on house wifi
