Apologies if this has been asked/discussed before but I let a random dude win one of my races last night and he was pissed off, so I'm wondering how everyone else feels about letting people win races - do you do it on your own races? Does it piss you off when people let you win theirs?
I feel like a douchebag winning my own races as it feels like cheating - obviously I already know the track etc. I would usually only take the win on my own race if I know everyone else in the race has done it before, but even then I sometimes still let them win (this is of course on the rare occasions when I'm actually in a position to win!)

Strange that he should be pissed off no?
There's a bunch of us that will drop to the back of the grid and follow on the 1st couple runs of a new track, mostly to check out the build through others eyes. I'd say it's a fairly important aspect of testing, as well as just being polite. After that, I'll just race normally. The chances of me winning against half of this lot is remote enough for me to not feel any great home advantage. Tbh, I don't really register Rummers caring who wins and will often see people pulling up at the end, hand brake finish failing and so on.
Of course, on other people's tracks, I almost always let somebody else win....

I might appreciate the gesture if I have not been competitive due to a tracks technicality say. Sometimes I think of the creator as just trying to say thanks for trying their track by giving away the win when I have clearly struggled to keep up (Hi legitgamer ). On my own track, I would only try to win it if I noticed someone I could lose it to, if you see what I mean . The more they struggle the less likely it is I will take the win. Annoying, and at the opposite end of the spectrum, is someone on their own track, clearly taking advantage of their familiarity with it, relentlessly jetting off into the far distance, apparently in an effort to cause all who were good enough to stay and sample their creation to DNF. (looking at you ***** ).

I haven't made any but I would lean towards letting someone else run in first and win. Like Cuz said, it would be a good way for the creator to see how first timers handle any hairpins or whatever obstacles you may have thrown their way. On a personal note, I don't have all my mods unlocked yet so I'll happily take any wins people will throw my way

Pretty much the same, if they haven't played the track before I drop to last place and follow them around for a few laps. Also a great way to see if they understand the CPs and props the way you intended them. Once I feel they are getting a good pace on it I'll drive as normal.

I create sparingly and on recent testin ive been pushed and challenged by the pack so "letting" someone win wasnt really an issues.
Cuz foes make a fair point that in testing you do need to see how people respnd to your track and droppin back is the simplest way. My barometer of whether i built a good track is when i get beat by a first timr, which happens alot. I try to make courses intuitive so the checkpounts n props do all the work, driverso the drivers jist focussed on racing.
I do however always "no vote" my own track. For ptestingif i test someone else track its always a like or a novote if its pretty ba. Its a dick move to down vote someone whos in the test phase imo, just unecessaryily demotivates people

Thanks for all the replies guys! I concur with pretty much everything people have said. Usually I will hang back and watch how people race a new race, but the problem with this one was that it wasn't a new race any more and most people in the lobby were familiar with it. It ended up being me vs a random dude for 1st place and I had edged ahead of him by the finish, so I felt with it being his first go at the race that his performance was far more deserving of the win than mine. He obviously didn't agree though! It was nothing major - we exchanged a couple of friendly messages, it's just something that annoys him. In hindsight, since the track wasn't new any more and I'm pretty happy with it, it's probably at the stage where I shouldn't be worrying about how people find it any more and should've just gone for it. I use the same rule as you mate take it easy unless its a known race, by that time though i'm usually getting lapped by empty ! You always seem to do better on other people's races than your own! Pleased to note that the number of asterisks doesn't match any variant of my name! I do however always "no vote" my own track. For ptestingif i test someone else track its always a like or a novote if its pretty ba. Its a dick move to down vote someone whos in the test phase imo, just unecessaryily demotivates people Interesting that you 'no vote' your own track - I always thumb mine up! Although that's not entirely due to me being a selfish sh!tbag - I'm also paranoid about Rockstar's rating system being glitched. I've had some races where it's taken a 'no vote' as a thumb down and reduced the percentage rating. Completely agree about not thumbing down other people's races though - anyone who's created a race knows the amount of time and effort that goes into it. If a race is that bad, I'll either leave or 'no vote'.

I agree with all this^ I feel like I'm scamming a win by having had a few testing runs on my own tracks. But ALSO if able to sit within viewing distance around the track it can give you an different perspective on layout , cp and props.
