Just an entirley random topic inspired by the awesome tea i had last night and a weird game i play with a mate at work. Every day i ask him to guess what i had for tea last night. Feel free to guess, but ill post a pic tomorrow of what i had tonight, and so on. If anyone wants to join in n show off yoir foodie delights ill add your name to the op for people to guess what you had. If anyone guesses right you get a virtual high five and 1 point towards your scorboard standings... Ive no idea how this wil turn out but i had an awesome meal, and ill post a pic in 14 hours for you to drool over.

Ignorant American here, but I always thought when you folks said you were having tea it just meant you were drinking tea. There's food involved too?

In Northern UK 'dinner' means lunch, and 'tea' means dinner ('Teatime').
Fno DOES drink a lot of tea though. Unlees he has about 20 meals a day.
On Topic. Deep Fried Mars Bar supper.

Free-range pork, slow-cooked with saffron, onion, tomatoes & Trebbiano white wine, served with Sicilian-style orange gremolata

As Mo is a refined gentleman, I can only assume he had a pan-seared vension steak, with a blueberry, shallot and red wine jus, served on a bed of mashed jersey royals and steamed tenderstem broccoli.

Mo had beer battered skate wing, mushy peas and chips, but his wife went with the traditional cod, but only medium chips (hold the vinegar) and a battered sausage.

Hmmmm.... I'm sensing it wasn't fish and chips. But was it a Chinese or an Indian - the most obvious of takeaways? I don't feel like you be talking food-porn about pizza.... unless you have some artisan pizzeria with a wood-fired oven near you.... hmmmm.....

Post by Mo-seph on Jan 27, 2015 11:16:21 GMT
your getting closer.... its neither indian or chinese... but its not pizza either... served with chips...
as for the food porn i was actually surprised by how good it was, i was looking for something simple, got anything but when it arrived...
we usually do homecook so this was an exception, im sure tomorrows guesses (base don tonight meal) will be more traditional

A gourmet burger... so a GBK? Give that man a High 5..... and here it is in its wonderous glory.... Two beef patties sandwiching tandoori chicken pieces, lovingly layered over fresh salad with drizzles of BBQ sauce all packed into a soft brioche bun. Accompanied by a bed of seasons chips and onion rings. I actually couldnt pick it up ( mrs managed it just fine despite being a size 8 with hands half the size of mine) so I reverted to using a Knive and Fork

I'm getting in early with bangers and mash for tonight's dinner. You'll also be going with an onion gravy. And I think you might throw in some baked beans to the mix.
#ProBeansTip - add a knob of butter and a teaspoon of mustard (your choice) for richer and more luxurious baked beans

oooo thats a favourable choice PK... as of yet im still not aware of whats on the menu today.
Top tip on the beans with a knob of butter. although we're a ground pepper household... i enjoy a bit of mustard or lea n perrins in ym beans but its not to the mrs' taste (n the kids defo wouldnt enjoy them)

Ground pepper FTW! How oversized is your pepper mill ? Think I may have found a winner for one of my Super Bowl snacks; deep fried, ramen-coated spicy chicken wings! Attachments:

Pffft. Stick some curry powder/paste in yer beans: instant man food. For those of a more delicate composition, try cheese. Gives them that velvety smoothness that butter does, with bonus cheese flavour. Mustard should only ever be used with beef, pork or in a cheese sauce.
Amateurs.

deejayb1874 even if I used a wholegrain mustard, you'd still reject it? Cheese is great, but it doesn't always need to be present

Cheese comment redacted!
Last night's meal was a classic fish pie, with green beans (string beans) in a garlic and chive butter.

Marinated & chargrilled featherblade steak, Italian-spiced skinny fries, pickles & crunchy kale slaw
Either that or macaroni cheese.
