What's happening with the crew then?
Everyone who moved to PS4 has stopped speaking. Obviously that's not the case you's still speak you's are just too cool to mix now, lose the forum and there won't be any more growth or is the little clique exactly what you want? Leaving the few PS3 players left completely behind seems even more harsh when looking at most of your videos there's only ever a handful of you's on PS4 anyway.

I'm a bit disheartened by the lack of hubbub atm but we've had these spells in the past and I'm not surprised that we're having one now. The console split was always going to be a difficult phase and the build up to Xmas can often be a quiet time with these sorts of communities. I'm very confident things will pick up again, not so much on the PS3 but I think that's a given. PS4 was always going to take over at some point, as 3 did from 2. I think everyone's surprised it's been so sudden but no one can control these things.
As for not mixing, the Skype chat has been good, no one put a sign on the door saying PS4 only. The idea behind it was not only to keep the PS4 players in touch in the face of the lousy msg optons on there but to keep ALL of us in touch no matter what game or console. I understand that it'd be galling to be part of if all the chat is PS4 this and PS4 that when you're stuck on PS3 but it hasn't been exactly like that. I've tried to maintain or create a place here that serves as an extended shoutbox with mixed results. People like a natural stream of conversation that they can dip in and out of, that's what the Skype chat has become, the more in there the merrier. There's a rise and fall to these things and a natural evolution that is difficult to manage or direct. I just try to stay positive and hope to maintain lines of communication with everyone, if you have constructive suggestions then I'm always all ears.
I do want to get as many people back to PS3 for a get together Saturday, although I'm not holding out a lot of hope for a mass attendance right at this moment. I was also thinking of holding an 'RRR Xmas party' on PS3, IF we can show signs of life and participation. A bit of FR and a PL of tracks from all our past events and that. At any point over the next few weeks.
Anyway. Watch this space. Cross your fingers. Stay positive. What else can I say?

Don't get my post muddled up, i'm not reaching out for friends.
You're saying the activity will pick up in the future, how? Nobody is going to be applying to join through Skype. Nobody is going to be applying to join when they look at the activity on the forum either. People sign up, have a look then log out and forget about it.
I don't understand how people moving to another console has seen the forum dip. There was a console divide before with the Xbox and PS side but the activity was still there, more than now. I mean "we won" right?

I don't understand how people moving to another console has seen the forum dip. There was a console divide before with the Xbox and PS side but the activity was still there, more than now. I mean "we won" right? Because we have a number of people moving over to PS4 around New Year and the interest in next years event series is high. The forum dip is always linked to console activity and the PS side splitting means there's less of that on both sides, and of course, Xbox seems to have died (I'm looking into it). PS4 WILL pick up tho, the membership already exists, all that is needed are the events that keep people coming back. Not only that, we will continue to pick up new members, especially if I start pushing GTAF, something we've not had to do in a loooong time. I've seen a number of people looking for involvement on PS4, I just haven't reached out to them, that doesn't mean I can't. Me thinking you'd be reaching out for friends... I've never been that muddled, lol.

The shout box is pretty active. If I'm coming in to the site as a guest I would see that and think the crew is fairly active. (If only the shout box were at the top of the page ) Edit: If we're going to be recruiting at GTAF then we need to be a little more active over there. The last post on our thread is from August! gtaforums.com/topic/656374-red-rum-racing/page-18?hl=rrr1Maybe we host some of our event ideas as public events and try to get folks from GTAF to join those. Heck, we could treat them as unofficial recruiting events. With a possible 30 cars on track it wouldn't take long to figure out who's RRR material and who isn't. Sure some of the events could go to crap, but if the Gentlemen's Guidelines are stated from the start then hopefully only like minded players would bother to sign up.

Skype is all that tricksy technologgery stuff to me and besides no substitute for the forum imo. Old dog new tricks etc. More importantly, I would indeed be "galled" by constantly being made aware of what jolliness my previous crew mates are involved in that I can't be any part of and I doubt any of them would be much entertained by my twitterings about whom I have bished bashed or boshed on my latest CUSS cursed trek around the LS map for the umpteenth time.
I understand that people may be busy at this time of year but have difficulty believing no-one has any time whatsoever to provide some brief sign of life here. Looks more like idgaf frankly. I have posted here as often as I think is pertinent, not only for my own jollification but in an effort to provide those important signs of life and hopefully a little amusement to casual passers-by and the few interested members.
So, do I deduce from your post Cuz that skype is now the de facto, go to, community tool and the forum is essentially redundant?. Just so I know. If it's going to be just me talking to myself in here, best I officially allow the patient to r.i.p and bury the corpse before it starts stinking a?.

Nah Trak mate, Skype is a substitute for the PS3 chat, not the forum. Things always quiet down a bit during the holidays. The forum is the central hub, but Skype is a necessary (and cool, imo) addition to help communicate while on PS4.

If it's going to be just me talking to myself in here, best I officially allow the patient to r.i.p and bury the corpse before it starts stinking a?. Not at all, like Dave said. It's just a chat room, natter natter. You can't plan stuff, propose stuff, etc. etc. You can't even chat deeply about anything much, it's too brief. Imagine the PS3 chat room active 24/7, that's what it is. It's really not complicated. The forum is absolutely necessary for a range of things and I still use it an awful lot, even if you're not seeing me post. Atm, the crew is on something of an event break and it's those that drive both crew and forum along, making the place look busy and enticing. Without a whole bunch of events to talk about just having done just about to do could we possibly fit in how about having.... we're just seeing the random posts, of which there can only ever be so many. The last GP was pretty much the final straw in this household, I'd hogged 90% of Fridays and Saturdays for all the stuff that we were doing and promised the missus that I'd no intention of planning anything else for a few weeks, I, and others, needed a break. That is almost certainly what's going on here, nothing more than that. As soon as the new year comes and the 2 big series start to kick off, you'll see an upturn. Idgaf could not be further from the truth, for anyone I care to think of. I've spent every spare bit of time I've had today on this forum, even if it doesn't seem much. If it ever does end up with you just talking to your self Trak, rest assured, I will still be here reading it.

GTAF is pretty strict on recruitment threads, but I beleive you can have a recruitment thread and your gang thread. We can put up a recruitment thread here - gtaforums.com/forum/275-crew-recruitment/I think we should at least make a half hearted attempt to use the existing gang thread here - gtaforums.com/topic/656374-red-rum-racing/page-18?hl=rrr1DDZN talk amongst ourselves on our private forum, but we do just enough chatting on GTAF to keep the gang thread on the front page. Of course it helps that DDZN has been a staple of GTAF for ages, but we could do a better job keeping the RRR name out there. Finally I think we should host some events that are open to everyone. The Comet races are what first put RRR on my radar. I know that seems like it was in a time before Methuselha (or even Trak) but I thought it showed the whole community what RRR was all about. It needn't be anything big, just a PL event like the Flex of Rebel Rum. People on GTAF complain all the time about racing with randoms, I'm sure many would love to take part in an event. Some may even decide to join, either way it keeps our name out there. gtaforums.com/forum/231-multiplayer-events/Edited for editing. Additional edit: I thought I put this in a PM. Oops, lol.

Coach, you hit the nail on.the head.mate. We already jave a recruitment thread on gtaf called "do you race clean? Red Rum Racing" we just need.to keep bumpin.it wekly with info on our latest/upcoming events etc n jist kep gang chat in a similar position to ddzn
rrr are relative babies compared.to you guys, but your activity keeps you on peoples radar
Ive not been on gtaf much as of late but at oir peak we were everywhere, we can revive that easily with regular chatter if we all pitch in.
Im co siderin reviving my "who puts things" threads with some new snapmatics n possibly starting a "cunning stunts" thread to find new stuntin locations... If our regular stunters join the convo it will keep the buzz alive.
All these things just keeep the rrr name about places the people see us, then they are free.to choose if they want to join...
P&g doesnt have the biggest advertising budget in the world for nothin..

Think it would be cool to have at least monthly PS3 meets (possibly fortnightly) going to at least March, just to keep the community here in touch, also if activity is an issue I reckon I could get at least half a dozen new ps3 recruits from my friend list, just say so, would be quick inductions as have race history with all of them.

You have probably raced with them previous due to the mighty auto invite ! I'm thinking of players like AJ Brewer, Die Hard Louie and Curbicini, i'll send em all a psn message and chatroom invite later tonight.

And Jeebus is currently on other business and it's him you will need to "keep it alive" imo mo.

PS3 side grew by 2 members last night (AJ & adr-ss), Curbicini will be inducted later today, so thats 3 new ps3 members in less than 24 hours.

@mo-seph great question. Yes is the short answer from me. A dozen or so regular players, & ps3 would be kicking.

I've known curbicini for a long time. Very nice guy and quick racer too be nice to get him in the crew.
I've always thought sike1779 would fit in really well with RRR. I'll message him later and see what he thinks about it and maybe get him in some inductions.

Tbh guys if youve raced alot woth certain people just drop them the invite in game if your confident they are red rum material
It seems redundant to run someone through initiation that youve spent hours racing with already and know they are suitable
