Hi guys, JvdW here. Unfortunately I couldn't start a thread, but it's still here with the help of thunderfiend. Thank you very much for that.
As you have probably understood, I've opened a thread at Nonchalant Dominance as well. What I told them is pretty much what I would like to tell you guys:
Yesterday I've set up a petition over at our Apex Stalkers forum to try to convince Rockstar Games to fix/get rid of the pavement boost. Let me make clear to you that I'm not starting this thread to start a huge argument between the RRR-members if we should "pavement surf" or not. This thread is only meant to gather signings for the petition and nothing more.
For the last couple of weeks the pavement surfing has been discussed. With a recent crew battle we've had with Nonchalant Dominance we decided to try to prevent the pavement surfing as much as we possibly could. I think that it is time that we stand up and try to make sure that this boost disappears so that we never have to discuss it again. If the pavement surfing technique gets deleted, we won't see any racing drivers looking for every piece of pavement they can find to drive the best times possible. We can finally fight our battles on the roads again, we can finally do Time Trials knowing that no one used any pavement surfing to improve their times. We would finally be able to race like we're meant to, focus to get the best possible entrance and exit out of corners without having to look for pavements around you that you can drive on.
I really think that is in the best interest of every racing crew in GTA Online that we get rid of this pavement boost. So that we can finally fight our crew battles without (wrongly) accusing each other of pavement surfing. So that we can finally race members from other crews without having to see that the members from one crew are forming traffic jams on the pavement and the members from the other crew try to avoid them as much as possible. We would all defend the honor of our crews on the roads.
Some of us may see other crews as rivals, others may see them as respected colleagues, right now it doesn't matter anymore. Right now it's time that we all stand together as one. You can find the letter I'm going to send to Rockstar (Support) underneath.
Dear RockStar Support,
A couple of months ago it became clear to us that driving over pavements will give you an extra boost, and will cause you to drive faster than when you're driving on the road. This technique - as I will call it - has had a great influence on racing in GTA Online for the past several months. Some of the racing crews tried to work their way around this technique, such as placing props on the pavements so that people can't drive on them. Other racing crews embraced the technique and deliberately searched for every piece of pavement they could find, to gain that extra boost.
What we've seen as a result of that is multiple cars cruising behind each other on every small piece of pavement they could find. At first each and every crew was fine with it, we can all do whatever we want. But as soon as we wanted to race against each other, for example in a crew vs. crew battle, we got into trouble. Crew A was avoiding every piece of pavement, crew B was searching for every piece of pavement. Crew A wasn't happy with it, crew B didn't know what the problem was, and the crew vs. crew battle didn't end very well.
Besides all that rivalism between crews, it speaks for itself that you are not supposed to get a boost when you drive on a pavement. After several months of dealing with this technique and finding out what problems it is causing, we think it is time to come forward and ask you to look into this matter. We don't know if it is a conscious choice to give racers a boost on the pavements, or whether it's a bug, but this is something that has had a huge impact on many aspects of competitively racing in GTA Online, and it certainly has had a huge impact on the fun we are getting out of racing in GTA Online.
Underneath this letter, I've added all the Social Club ID's and crew names of the people that stand behind me on this matter. On behalf of all those people from the biggest racing crews in GTA Online, I kindly ask you to patch this pavement boost, and make sure that we can finally race where we're supposed to: on the roads.
Kind regards,
