I have been battling some thoughts in my head for several weeks now. I am going to share these thoughts and then see what happens.
When I started playing GTA I fully enjoyed all aspects of the game including deathmatches and sports and freeroam. It was clear early on that I was liking the racing more than the rest. I have a decent history of liking racing games in general so that isn't really a surprise to anyone that knows me.
When I got hooked up with RRR it felt great to have people to race with. As time went on my friendlist, which was before this game completely empty, has filled up with great racers. The result has been an awesome experience of the racing and all associated aspects but has all but removed much of the remainder of the game from play. Every invite I get is for a race. Any other job I host no one joins. I get invites almost immediately after I log in and up until the point when I log off. The result has been that all other aspects of the game have fallen off my radar. Even when I do get an opportunity it is quickly overlooked. It is like I have unintentionally trained myself to only race. Its unfortunate but up until recently it has met my entertainment needs.
My experiences over the last few weeks though have changed. Most comments I make in the forum either ARE an argument or quickly turn into one. Most races I join result in some discussion of who hit who or rules or real racing. Things have gotten way too serious. I don't want to call anyone out but it really isn't the crew as a whole but more about the few.
I am not bringing any of this up to change anything, start an argument, turn anyone against anyone else, push anyone away or any other such possible result. In fact I would be perfectly fine if no one ever responds to this thread.
My intent is to share my thoughts and explain my actions to come. As the leader of the Xbox division I feel that you all have the right to know what is going on with me. The bottom line is that this game has boiled down to nothing but racing for me and it is something I really enjoy, however lately I have been enjoying it less and less due to the seriousness being applied.
Just yesterday I was so put off from my in game experience that I made a purchase for a game that will be launching on Friday and I intend to spend this weekend playing almost excusively except for the RRGP Sunday. This is something that last month I told several family members I would not be playing because of how invested I was in GTA. GTA has been my only game for almost a full year now.
The fact that I made this purchase is really giving me some insight into how I am feeling about my experience in GTA. I still very much like racing. I like making new creations. I do not like drama, rules, accusations, fighting or being uncomfortable. All of these things have become the norm lately.
I have been so put off that I find myself not wanting to participate, not interested in hooking up with new recruits, not setting up any events, not making any decisions, basically not being a proper leader or commissioner. If I am not going to act as one and especially if I am going to play something else for a while I feel it would be wrong to still be sitting in this position. I have considered just leaving crew and moving on. I have considered asking Mo-seph to just bump me down to muscle so I can live up to "Red Rum for life" motto but not need to active or in the mix. I have considered packing the game up and calling it a day. I have considered parking right where I am and changing nothing. I have considered waiting for next patch to make any decisions.
I am very much torn up by all these thoughts.
For now, this will be my last post for a while. I will be in game Sunday for the GP championship and some practice earlier that day but will likely not be found before then. I have some thoughts to iron out.

I understand how you feel and think it's unfortunate, as I've really enjoyed playing with you Luap.
I'll stay away from any arguments here, and you'll make whatever decision you want. I'll just point out my personal view on these same issues so you hopefully understand my POV when making your decision.
In regards to all the arguments about racing rules and such, for me it's still the fun we all initially had that is the main aspect of the game. The arguments do get a bit heated sometimes, but at least for my part if it's left alone that usually quickly dies down. In terms of seriousness, I don't know about the others, but I suspect it's similar as for my part. I'm not very serious about anything but improving myself. I don't think it's right to demand everyone to be as dedicated, and I prefer being in a crew where that is the general consensus. When I discuss/debate racing rules from RL and such it's not a case of trying to change everyone else, but trying to change myself. So basically what I'm trying to say is that the only serious part in those arguments for me is trying to improve my own racing, not to say that anyone else has to improve theirs. So it's really unfortunate if that makes you feel that things are being too serious, or if you feel pressured to be that serious about it yourself. When I start a discussion about something it's usually just because I'm curious, and if it turns into a bit argument thats probably because I'm not good enough at getting that across. I want to know how other people feel about particular incidents and scenarios to better know what is right and wrong for me to do in those specific situations if it was RL racing.
I don't expect everybody else to want to race like that, I just enjoy it myself. And of course, sometimes I can get a little pissed off when I shouldn't be as well, and contradict what I said above a little bit. But that's just me being human, and rest assured I wont stay that way for too long, or at least I'll try my best not to stay mad.
The most important thing to us should always be to make sure everyone can have fun over enforcing rules and regulations. I'm really agains't enforcing in general, and think that as long as everyone is responsible for making their own decisions and being happy with their own decisions it's fine. I really do hope you stay, as I think you're a really good racer that give me a real challenge whenever I'm battling for positions with you. As I said yesterday when we raced that playlist, it was a really refreshing part of my day having really good races with people who weren't being dead serious about everything.
Personally I think maybe we should have a topic of it's own on the forums for those kind of disagreements and arguments, and then try to keep it out of the other threads instead so it doesn't seem to be everywhere on the forums. I don't know, but you're atleast pointing at a very real issue that we need to solve. Which is how we can still have those arguments for those who want to take part, but also have the crew enjoyable for anyone who feel things get too serious with it. Anyways, I'm really hoping to see you around on the track, but I will respect any desicions that you make man :-)
[Add MD-filter to that post if anything was offensive, in which case I didn't mean it that way]

Hope you rediscover your love of gaming Luap. Remember, a break can work wonders. You either come back refreshed or you move on, either way it happens naturally if you let it lie and don't sweat on it.

Which is how we can still have those arguments.......... Why does everything have to end up in an argument or debate with walls of text? then try to keep it out of the other threads instead so it doesn't seem to be everywhere on the forums. The big debates and arguments aren't everywhere on the forum though are they? I get the impression you love drama. The reason i get that impression is because when there is no drama you always seem to create some and then up the ante when someone falls for your bait.

Hope you have fun with your new game Luap. Can easily empathise with much that you have said. Take it easy guy and don't be too much of a stranger. I for one will miss your valuable input here. Good luck, my very best wishes and all that shizzle.

I do not like drama, rules, accusations, fighting or being uncomfortable. All of these things have become the norm lately. Easy solution, purchase a PS3 and come and experience one of our campfires In all seriousness though, we play all modes (only last night I did a full session with not one race raced) and we are all communicative to each other so that we all play as a crew not individuals doing as they like, I would say it is probably the best community I have ever been a part of, in fact I class a lot of players on my friends list as actual friends, not just people I game with Enjoy your break, it sounds as though it is needed, like Cuz said I think it will help in your final decision.

I took a break from racing as you know a couple of months back and it was refreshing going round free roam killing anyone and everyone. You're not the only one who loads up a playlist and no-one joins lol, happens to me all the time.
I know you've seen my jet montage but not sure about my buzzard video. I hope this will give you some inspiration to go on a free roam mass murder:

I kind of agree with some people taking it way to serious. But to each their own. I like to dabble in a little bit of everything which means i never get bored of this game but i also never full on commit to one aspect of this game too.
I have never been the fastest racer in RR. But now it seems like everyones just been racing their damn guts out, finding every fastest line/short cuts on every track and sucking the fun out of it. For me anyways,.... But when we all play and have fun, thats when i enjoy it.
But theres more to gta then just racing. The more you mix it up the better. Also.... THC does a body good. If you get bored Luap, just join me in a game and find me. I get into all kinds of shit non stop.
Also... i've started the single player story again. Forgot how great it is.

Strangely im more addicted to this game now more then ever. Sometimes a little break is all someone needs. Theres always shit to do in this game tho. If racing is not doing the trick just take a break from that.

I'm not gonna let you go luap! Now seriously - what made me start racing in this game was the feeling you,ringtone7,groundzero and few others had while racing, always laughing and joking about everything and most important thing : having fun.
I probably wouldnt be here if it wasnt for you - I would have been a freeroam killer or something. I got 0 knowledge about racing(and still dont know shit about it) but I still managed to learn from you all while racing and if i gotta thank someone thats you. I agree that things got way too serious lately - we never had this problems 3-4 months ago,we never had someone complaining. People arent racing anymore for fun - they are playing to win, that might be the problem.
When ozzy made that long post about racing and stuff I was like : What the hell seriously? This is a god damn game and I want to play it the way I want - so thats means you have to respect people and everything gonna be fun. I cant remember one day without some people arguing about something - this has gone too far. (I dont have nothing against you ozzy - I just want to have fun and if you know the others people that are racing with you are really clean, there wouldnt even be a problem about those rules)
We got too many competitive people right now just because we got a good reputation - I feel you luap, sometimes its not about fun anymore, its way too serious.
If you want to play gta but not racing I'll try to join you even if our timezones are fucked up - sometimes when racing i feel like I'm being forced to focus on a damn race to win because there are a lot of competitive people and whenever I see a crash people starts to argue and it never ends.
I can remember at least 10 situations on those 2 weeks about people getting taken out in the first 10 seconds of a race because they couldnt wait few more seconds to overtake someone. I got taken out yesterday at the start of the race by mehryan because he wanted to get a god damn sidewalk speedboost at any cost to get ahead - when that happens I'll just finish the race like nothing happened because its pointless to argue.
Take a break luap and think about it - dont rush anything. You have done more on this crew than anyone else on xbox side.

Ensyyy you nailed it bud. Ive been meaning to comment on this before now and you took the words right out of my mouth. As far as you Luap. W.T.F....I miss all the guys just getting together and racing the he'll out of our playlist with no problems/arguments/or whatever. I dont race competitively mainly because of the times of the races, but i dont know if i even would now that it is drama filled. You cannot leave RRR1 as it would hurt the crew more than you know. Lets just take a step back and do some old school racing.

The other night I was racing against some of the HERO and SPRO guys, and my experience of this scarily coincides with your thoughts Luap. Every time I pulled out in front or pulled off a successful overtake my ears were filled with "Grim can just fuck off!" or "He must be playing these tracks every day! How can HE beat us?!" and so on and so forth. This was followed up by them discussing the idea of joining more randoms in order to improve their W/L ratio. I think of myself as someone who takes racing pretty seriously, but this for me was too much.
Last night I decided to take myself away from it all and just raced against anyone and with any settings on any track (excluding some of the obvious borefests). The racing wasn't great at all and again I received abuse, except this time it was for being a 'level 300 hacker' and being 'so bald I need kimo'. This led to a full hour long manhunt in freeroam. I wasn't angry or anything, I just wanted to watch their characters suffer in the name of the game. Groper joined in at one point, and it was the most I've had on this game in a while.
The racing in this crew is a brilliant experience and I hope that doesn't change, but I hope we as a crew can start enjoying and delving into other aspects of this game more often. Vooodu's bounty hunting event is something I'm greatly looking forward to and I hope to have some of my own similar ideas drawn up soon.
We've all had our moments of conflict and times where our competitive edge gets the better of us, but let's use this to move forward as a crew and put things right.
