Hey, I'm relatively new to racing, or at least racing for speed rather than racing to win against randoms, and the one thing I'm really struggling with is keeping my car from sliding when going around corners.
I'm currently practicing Dockyard with the Ruiner and my god, I spend half the time going sidewards even when slowing right down and am thus finding it impossible to get my time under 1:30.
Does anyone have any tips with how to turn/brake effectively in order to stop this happening?
Thanks

In dockyard in a muscle, usually taking your time in the corners can be quicker.
Brake before the corner (not too much) then coast around, then as you come out of the corner, gently accelerate. If you got sausage fingers you'll struggle.
If you are feeling confident, you can have the throttle down slightly to maintain speed in the corner and does actually seem to give the car more grip when done right.
One more thing, with ruiner and dominator, don't do 'full turn' or the back end just skids out, turn gently and after a while you'll just learn the boundary of how far you can push your analog stick before you loose grip.
EDIT: that's how I do it, others may have a different approach
Ensyy let me spectate him when I was learning to see how he does it, chuck me a friend request and I'll do the same for you if you want. GT is the same as my username.

Imo its a mixture of a couple of things. Ive increased my handling by going into the corner wide while letting off the gas a little then hitting the gas at the Apex while breaking only as much to keep me on the road. On sharp corners i tend to brake hard while riding the gas. Hopfully this helps you a little. And again this is only my opinion.

On Dockyard you need to learn the proper speeds for the corners. For instance, after coming around the building and you turn right into the containers you should be able to get around the next 4 turns without breaking at all. Use a feathered acceleration to maintain a less than max speed and smoothly drive around the turns. It should look like a big S.

Theoretically The fastest way to take a corner is to make it as shallow as posible. Like grassy said if you pullout wide before the corner, then cut to the apex and back out wide again. This minimises the change in direction meanin you can keep a higher momentum through the corner

With the super slippery muscle cars it's definitely a good idea to take it easy on the throttle. Don't just slam it down coming out of a corner unless you're 100% sure you have the grip. Also you may need to brake more than you normally would at first until you get a feel for the proper braking distance.
