I am sensing a slight England-Scotland rivalry here lol. Why is that? The Dutch and the Belgians are very supportive of each other, and I'd also rather have the Germans winning the cup than some country I have no connection with whatsoever, like Brasil.

There is no rivalry from us i've never met another English person who cares about Scotlands results and i work all over Britain lol. Scotland on the other hand hate us, it must be really dark in our shadow

Those guys from Uruguay must be the dirtiest players in the world. Suarez wasn't even there or someone might've been killed. lol
Glad Costa Rica won. 3-1, not bad.

It's funny because my girlfriends nose broke when Italy scored...i apologised when we equalised though so it's all good. I'm sure the police will understand when they get here.

She's gonna hate Italy by the end of this game.

Lol I hope Mrs Swifty is still in one piece now the game is over. But it's good to have a way to release some tension Swift. Seemed like it was just too hot for the English team.

I thought Balotelli's header was really good. Bad defenses on the English side in that instance.

Thought they played alright Swifty, certainly showed enough to beat Uruguay. Can't believe Hodgson didn't get Henderson to man mark Pirlo though. Did he even jog at any point?
Plus Points: Sterling and (surprisingly) Welbeck played very well. Little cameo by Barkley wasn't bad either. Sturridge looks a threat.
Minus Points: Wayne Rooney. Seriously. Drop him Hodgson. I laughed my ass off at his corner. One decent cross aside he was anonymous. He even stole it off Barkley a one point, then blazed it over the bar; Steven Gerrard looked unfit. You can't have your wingbacks bomb forward if your CDM isn't going to cover the gaps left. All Italy's threat came down the left, which was Gerrard's side. The press (and Leighton Baines) seem to be crucifying Rooney for the lack of cover. Well, it still happened when Welbeck/Sterling had switched positions with Rooney.
PS. Liverpool fan ;o)

I think England did pretty good, with the obvious exception of Rooney. To me they seemed on par with Italy for most of the game. I think they should be able to beat both Uruguay and Costa Rica if they don't fuck up their defense again, like they did with Balotelli's header. The guy was wide open, they should know how dangerous he can be. They should never have left him out of their sight. They're done if they let the same thing happen with Suarez.

Wayne Rooney tried, but his aim was horrible, especially on that corner kick, but then again it was Italy a strong team, i expect England to beat the rest of the group.

If Argentina keeps playing the way they've done these past 45 minutes they don't stand a chance of winning te cup. Messi is invisible and they're struggling to keep their 1-0 lead over Bosnia. I wonder if they'll step it up after the break.

Rooney will become a scapegoat if they leave him on the wing. Unless he's played in his position the criticism should be on the manager.
I was just saying to someone he will get took to the line everytime on the left because he can't use his left foot and 5 seconds later he crossed the ball for the goal with his left foot lol

When you think about it Brazil haven't been the same since all their best players started playing in Europe. They aren't a surprise for teams anymore plus the likes of Oscar, Neymar, Bernard and Silva are no match for Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Cafu, Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos lol

Cohesion has always been their problem but they used to just have the best players in the world. Now they've got 1 CB and a showpony. I can see them scraping thru the group but one of the European teams will shred them before they get anywhere near the final.
Mexico are a decent team tbf.

Incidentally, I thought Italy were really good against England. Been a strong WC so far.
Apart from Nigeria, who were one of the worst things I've ever seen on a football pitch. Including David James haircuts...

The USA have definitely got a World Cup coming to them one day the way they've improved so much over the last 10/15 years. I remember them years ago and they were useless, they were like a League 1 team playing International games lol
