Ive been trying to create a track (with corners Nitty!) and Im having trouble with the direction some of the checkpoints are pointing in. Part of the track runs up the hill towards Martins place. Try as I might I cannot get the damn pointers on the steep gradient up to show the correct direction. One of them points towards a wall which isnt great. Strangely the chekpoints going down the hill are fine. Has anyone else encountered this?

Ah, think I might have just read the answer to this, the checkpoint points towrds the next checkpoint...not the direction of the road...durr...doh!! Must be really nice to have a brain that works on both left and right side.

i was gonna say you need to add extra checkpoints to force the arrows to point in the right direction... becomes annoying for sbends/chicances...
would be nice if we could just rotate them manually, but i understand why they point "line of sight" to the next checkpoint, as the next check should always be visible
i found that out on my very first creation, i had a checkpoint at a fork in the road, the left road was blocked by a bus, the right road (the only option to go) was open, but the checkpoint pointed directly at a rock..
can you guess what everyone did when then had one road they could take but the arrow pointed at a 20foot rock??
yup they drove straight into the rock...

Yes, have tried a few truly awful tracks where directions pointed all over the place....not fun! Have fixed mine now, seems ok.

Just so happens that I know of a rather handy guide on GTAF... ahem.. gtaforums.com/topic/695643-checkpoint-placement-guide/#entry1065066955Those sweeping roads with S bends and such are a tricky thing to CP right tho. Haven't really got anything specific in the guide about it but I think that's because its more at the art end of the spectrum. Following the points made in that thread will see you right 95% of the time tho.

Cheers Cuz.......and wow. Not sure my humble little track adheres to all you've suggested but it seems to flow ok.

Will do it when I get home, was planning to. Hope the formatting sticks, lol. Margin, you only have to treat them as rules if you suck at it

Never liked rules anyway, that's why I always try to find shortcuts through trees, lamp posts, walls, bins and other players cars when I'm racing!
