Agreed. Mark Webber won't be the only one to start throwing up mid-race.
Think it may be better to just close the cockpit or accept open cockpit racing has a higher chance of death.

Hot from a dodgy livestream of F1 qually (full malware scan underway) let me be the first to say what a load of bollox the new knockout format is. Grid hardly mixed up at all, if that was the aim, hot laps cancelled as they were in progress, empty track for final 4 minutes of Q3 and 2 minutes of Q2. My heart goes out especially to the paying trackside punters who will not have had a clue what was going on.
What a load of arse. One can only hope that after this chaotic, farcical and unentertaining shitshow that they ditch this ill thought out format and return to what worked.

It was terrible. Boring, confusing, and anticlimactic. This video sums up what the fans at the track thought of it.

From 2019 onwards there will be no free terrestrial coverage of live F1 races in the U.K. So, it's pay Sky i.r.o £1000 a year for 300 channels of shite that they should pay me to watch should I wish to continue watching a sport I have followed for the price of the BBC licence fee for the past 40 odd years. Seems reasonable.
I think you will all guess just how pleased I am about this state of affairs so will spare you an expletive ridden rant about money grabbing fucks that couldn't give one about anything but money etc, etc. Sad days.

Have you got a decent computer or laptop trak? There's a program called Kodi, with the right addons, you can watch F1 races (along with other sports, live TV and movies) for free. I cut my cable almost 6 months ago and have been using it ever since.

F1 don't give a fuck about the fans. Time for you to join Indy nation. They post full race coverage on youtube, plus they have a great sense of humor.
Can you imagine Charlie Whiting doing this?

I have heard of Kodi speed. Haven't looked into it much as yet as I strongly suspect the quality of streaming will not be of the HD-ness I have rather snottily come to expect.
Now that "my" government has finally finished clawing back most of the unexpected pension pot I received recently, I shall be blowing what little the ***** have left me on a simply ginormous 4billion pixel stamped from 100% pure reclaimed plastic medium to hi-endish tellyovisual marvel of technerology on which I hope to view the last few years of free-to-view F1 with some style and fidelity. On the upside, Channel Four (the new broadcasters for this year and until 2019 of half-live, half-highlights free-to-air F1 coverage in the U.K) have, i.m.o, the bestest quality HD transmissions currently available over here.
It's the cutting edge tech of F1 that intrigues me as much as anything coach and it is that which has kept my interest over the eons. Indycars are to F1 what a tractor is to a Koenisegg konisberg koniseggberger Ferrari. Don't do it for me I'm afeared.
Edit in response to above post. ffs!

Agreed T. F1 for me was so appealing because it was and should be the pinnacle. A place where the best of the best go head to head in the fastest of fast cars. Sadly this is changing, what with all the restrictions, pay to drive (**aggressive cough** MALRETARDO **cough**) and whatever BS new "exciting" rule Bernie decides to Chuck in for views/tickets. Don't think I'll ever stop watching F1 but it isn't what it was, at least for the foreseeable future...meh Might check out all the hype around BTCC

Great racing but absolutely no 'GG's' whatsoever, and the stewards rarely penalise guilty parties either. I'll specify, I havent watched BTCC in a few years, but the last time I did Andrew Jordan, then a privateer in a Vectra, somehow found himself at the front of the pack through a race, and everyons favourite Jason Plato was chasing him down lap after lap but Jordan was holding on to it, driving the balls off this vectra. I feel like there was about 1 maybe 2 laps to go when Plato caught him and I thought 'great, what a finale' but alas what actually happened was as soon as Plato caught him, he launched a massive divebomb on him, hit Jordan knoking him off the track, took the position and won the race without any penalty..... such a shame.

That's anticlimactic AF lol I guess it means for better action on track rather than pit stop overtakes *snore* have seen a few races and yeah although it looked a bit like a R* race, it's exciting. Although I do agree with it, I struggle sometimes to accept the whole "rubbing is racing" atmosphere. Probably stems from watching nothing but F1 for years where "rubbing" or any contact resulted in damage or game over, 96% of the time.

BTCC appeals to my stock car loving heart. They really are the NASCAR (when NASCAR used to be good) of Europe. I wish I could get more of it here, alas no one carries it anymore . I feel your pain guys. What's really got me pissed is that MotoGP is now on some channel I've never heard of, as part of a premium satellite package that would cost me $150+ a month! I've really gotten into it in the last two years, and now it's gone.

We in the U.K already had that last year coach. Went from Eurosport which already required a Sky sub, to BT, that required another sub on top of the Sky sub. Can get highlights on catchup as a freebie though so that's my MotoGP these days.
Part of me would like to see the whole edifice crash and burn. Circuits only get a return for putting on DORNA's and Bernie's expensive shows from bums on seats and on site sales. I wonder how long those bums will keep adorning seats if they continue to peddle the sport only to those that can afford it rather than those who presently care about it?. Britain, Italy, Belgium, U.S.A, Canada and Australia have all had their problems keeping up with the costs of hosting the Bernie show and Germany and France have already opted out. Only circuits like Russia, China and the Arab regions are impervious to Bernie's demands which, incidentally, include a contracted 10% year on year increase in costs to the circuit owners for the duration of that contract come rain (c.o.t.a 2015) or shine. You'd like an arrangement like that from your employer wouldn't ya?.
I don't follow football much at all but would be interested to know how the ppv t.v model is working there. I know how it has worked out for boxing (boxing...what's that now?) I also know that despite declining viewing figures Bernie and co. are actually making more money now than they ever have. Bernie and his ilk would appear satisfied if only a dwindling handful of the population ever watched F1 just as long as they were paying a million quid each for the pleasure. Screw popular, exclusivity pays better seems to be the way of it. Circuit owners may take a different view eventually...apart, of course, from the races sponsored by dodgy regimes looking to appear "cool", legit or "happening" where crowd attendance matters not a fig. Here's a game for you. Next time a Grand Prix is staged in a desert location, if the cameraman slips up and shows the main start-line grandstand, count the number of spectators. It'll be easier than you imagine. Think of the likely attendance at a club race in October at Donington Park, divide by half and you will be in the ballpark. The free-loaders in long white nightdresses don't count.
I hope air doesn't get to be too popular or they will start dishing that out only to those that can afford it.

Sorry to go on about it but this knock out qually b.s thing. They run it for Australia, the universe and every sentient being in it agrees (as the great unwashed fully expected it to be) that it was a huge steaming turd. We'll drop it they say. Days later comes the news that they will in fact run it again, unaltered in any way just to be sure that that turd really was a turd and not actually something shiny, exciting and wonderful to add to the show that will make more people want to pay £1000 per annum to watch. Wtf is up with these people?. WHICH PART OF "IT'S A TURD" DIDN'T YOU UNDERSTAND FFS!.
The chances of this bunch of twats agreeing on 2017 regs is less than zero. They want more exciting racing they say so propose to make the cars wider with wider wings that will disrupt airflow to the rear even more than they do now rather than simplifying wings and increasing underbody ground effect which is far less disruptive to airflow and hence more conducive to close racing. They add lots of extra weight to accommodate the proposed inclusion of the baby hoop around the drivers head and make no mention at all of upping the overall fuel allowance for a race distance meaning more lift and coast fuel management will be necessary (the faster you go the more gas you need). I.m.o the words "fuel management" and "Grand Prix Racing" shouldn't appear together in the same conversation. .
I worry for the future of my fave sport. I am truly glad I got to experience it when it was something. I had n/a v10's, V12 and 1300bhp unrestricted turbo engines while future generations will have polite understressed electrically enhanced motors. Man, I'm getting old.

G'day guys happy Easter Monday. I feel for ya's with the fta tv dissappearing. Last year we had 1/3rd of races live, the rest were highlights (mind you the highlights were still only aired at 4am, ffs basically i missed more races last season than i missed every one of the 10 seasons prior combined) so it was like a loving committed 'they're the only one for me' relationship that was forced into going long distance. The relationship now sux & they can fo. As for Q3, I'd like to see a 1 lap shootout in reverse order. 1 chance to set their grid position, which has to be more exciting that what i saw at smellybourne. (Think nascar but only 1 hot lap available instead of 2) Imagine a fast driver goes out first. Say Nico just scraps in at 10th so he goes out in Q3 first and smokes a brilliant time. The pressure of everyone who's following will increase making good viewing, maybe the odd mistake and should shuffle the usual grid order somewhat, at least a few times a season i hope, preferably it happends in our one of 3 live fta races we get here too haha. Even if every driver makes an error it'll still be better than the bs that they've come up with for this season. . I think the bs loophole detection guys need their asses kicked in. Go back to season Brawn, snow plough fron n rear wings. So RBR etc and rear diffuser activities become apparent, it became a minefield with lawyers bs etc. It needed instantly being stopped. Buzzzzz not allowed guys, remove it or gtfoh. . I'd compare that to being like a RRR race series where it's all going well, then i find a loophole to use my zentorno in all compact races. In this case it's easily pointed out that my actions were not in our crew or our sports best interest. But F1s best interest is dollars. It's a shame its gone so far away from what it should be, which is a race.z In a way i guess its just more rummyness F1 needs.

Have not seen a Moto 3 race for ages. What a great reintroduction that was!. Last person I saw go last to first in a similar manner was Marc Marquez in the Moto2 2012 season finale at a wet Valencia. Couldn't find the whole race on YouTube but there are a few clips worth seeking out of his opening lap there where he makes a lot of top class riders look very ordinary indeed.
On a slightly different tack, checked out, for curiosity's sake, the ticket prices for Silverstone's F1 race in July. Erm!..gulp!...fffu!...basic "get you in" is £185 each for teh Sunday only. Bum parking plus "get you in" is £249 each on raceday at my preferred bum parking spot (the entry to Copse if you're interested). Wow!. That would be £500 then for me and Mrs T, plus petrol to get up there and back, burgers, coffee, sugary ring do-nut things, coffee, hot dogs, coffee, more burgers, coffee, a race programme (it's traditional to get one even if you don't ever read it) and whatever Mrs T might want too...within reason...maybe.
I'll probbly just have watch it on my beloved LG55EG910v OLEDic telly then a?. Pffft.

I feel a minor rant/vent coming on. Today has seen the untimely demise of MotoGP2 rider Luis Salom so I'm feeling momentarily both sad and angry. Sad is obvious, angry, I'm not so sure why yet. Maybe because there are people in F1 fretting and hand wringing about the infinitesimally small extra risk of driving an F1 car without insisting on adding a great fugly cage around the drivers head a.s.a.p and other people breathing the very same air, that have allowed MotoGP bikes to continue to use the last corner at Barcelona (Until right now ofc cos some shit just happened didn't it) despite F1 not using it for the last several years because of safety concerns.
Heroes and zeroes.
R.I.P Luis.
