Showing NOW and over the weekend live from the Goodwood Festival of Speed (one of the best motorsports events on Earth). Go get misty eyed. Decent quality, great sound. I'm made up.

Well its sometimes televised over here (highlights anyway). The hay bails (protecting the precious machinery from bumps n bruises) must bring back memories eh When I see the F1 cars at shows I think something doesn't look right about that. Like the thumbnail of the Mercedes, Ahhh it's got something underneath it....sunlight.

SPOILER ALERT. READ NO FURTHER IF U DON'T WANT TO KNOW MOTOGP RESULT!. (though it will still be worth watching a replay in any case)
Wow!. Just caught last few laps of Dutch TT from Assen on semi-legal potato-cam. V.Rossi at 36yrs old showing just why he is known as the g.o.a.t by many. (greatest of all time). What a racer!.

Cheers t, was looking for the link. Very jealous I am not there this weekend even though it's happening just a couple of miles from me. Did get to see the fighter jet yesterday though and red arrows today though which were flying over my house. The noises are amazing. Seen a lot of coquettes, a few Osiris's, a couple of vaccas and even a Roosevelt over last few days. I was in a&e today though (stitches in my right index finger!) and a couple of the mechanics from Honda came in with some injuries but didn't catch what happened. I will be there next year though!

@18 seconds his tire is like, "Hey, you forgot me back there."
All things considered that wasn't too bad. The tight pack is the blessing and curse of oval racing. It' great fun to watch, but can lead to some dicey situations for the drivers.

Haha at the end, "is my head still attached to the rest of me...yep I'm ok, thumbs-up" That Ryan Briscoe is an aussie (or-zee as the American commentators might refer to him) lad who went over to the states around the same time as Will Power.

I forgot that I had recorded this race, just watched it tonight. Wow! Even my wife was into it. 75 official lead changes, the first 130 laps caution free, just amazing racing.

Watched replay too. Great race but couldn't help but notice severe lack of bums on seats track-side. I bet the stands are pretty much filled to the brim when NASCAR goes there though. I don't really get it. What have NASCAR got so right (for the American public anyway) that Indy car so very hasn't?.
I can watch Indycar quite easily, fugly as they are, because (semi) opened wheeled racing, especially on speedways, is quite alarmingly entertaining but NASCAR just bores the crap out of me I'm afraid.

I haven't watched NASCAR in years but back when I did I think most people watched it because they could relate. The drivers are VERY ACCESSIBLE so people could almost just walk right up to them and say hi and get an autograph and a picture with their favorite driver. I also think that the cars are much more identifiable. Everybody in the States has an opinion about what is better when it comes to Ford vs. Chevrolet (I know that Toyota is now part of the series too). Not to mention the cars actually look like cars and even like the ones we drive everyday (even though we all know they are nothing like their real world counterparts). NASCAR also has a very friendly schedule for the fans. A race almost every week for weeks on end and it is at a consistent time for Americans to watch too instead of it being shown live a 2 AM because it is being run in some distant land. To finalize the dominance, NASCAR has done an excellent job marketing themselves as they are in the middle of everything (although not as much as they used to be). So to review: 1) Accessible drivers, 2) Identifiable cars, 3) Fan friendly schedule, 4) Marketing.
Indy and F1 both are exciting series and no doubt have excellent drivers but with the cars being open wheel cars and the drivers being off limits even more than an A list movie star, it is hard to relate to that driver as easily. F1 is raced all over the world (which is cool) but it is a real search to find when the F1 race will be shown here in the USA and is often recorded and shown after the fact or on some little known channel when it is carried live.
Just my opinions of course and I could be totally wrong about all of this!

Thunder nailed it about NASCAR. Indy cars used to draw a decent sized crowd, but they've done a terrible job of marketing their races outside of the Indy 500. Hopefully with NBC taking over NASCAR TV coverage this week they will cross market their Indy coverage and draw in some new fans.
TT, if you're looking for F1 it's on NBC Sports, the same station as the Indy races. Channel 220 on DirectTV. I DVR most of the races and watch them when I get up on Sunday morning. It's a pretty nice way to start the day, and I get my racing fix with breakfast.

brilliant! haha! Thoughts on the race? I enjoyed it, nice to see a 4 way battle for a bit, and big thanks to the English weather for spicing things up at the end. Very brave whoever made the call in Lewis' garage (tv say it was Lewis himself) to go on to the inters when he did, turned out to be perfect.

To be honest it turned out pretty much the way I thought it would despite the surprise mega start from Massa. Mercedes are still in a class of their own at the moment. Couldn't see anyone challenging them over a race distance on a track that tests an F1 car so completely for power and aerodynamic efficiency, both of which Mercedes have plenty of. Williams and Ferrari probably not too shy on power but noticeably a little short on aero at this track, especially both disappointingly off the pace Ferraris, despite Seb's eventual slightly fortunate 3th place. Williams deserved better but didn't pan out quite right for them today.
A big stage is Silverstone and great to see an absolutely massive crowd turn out to watch the show (or more likely, a Brit actually win something). Only place that looked under attended was the actual track, especially after the Lotuses Loti Lotus's black cars and Button's exit. Pity, but I'm sure almost everybody went home happy with Hams win and didn't really notice that not a lot else went on and the cars still sound shit.

If it was me I wouldn't get past anti-stall I'd just sit 50 yards off the guy in front, saving my tyres etc... must be a good reason why they dont I assume... they are after all, quite a quick bunch.

Bottas was only faster because of the power ups DRS, he fell way off Massa's pace after the first pit stop. That start was amazing though, the in car view from Nico looked like he miss timed a start in GTA.

It's a fine line between viewer boosting racing "entertainment" and unpalatable tragedy ain't it?. Glad no-one hurt.

Glad to see some MotoGP fans in here as well. What's your opinion on the last corner at Assen Trak? I think it was a desperate move by Marquez and I am glad he finally found his master, hopefully Rossi's experience will get him his tenth title this year. I'll head to the Sachsenring this weekend, hope I can take some good photos & videos!

What you said Dov. I admire Marquez's raw talent a lot but he has quite some prior history, for one so young, of being unnecessarily rude on track to the point of being worryingly ignorant at times. I seriously hope he doesn't end up hurting some one.
Rossi, even at 36 yrs old and with 85 premier class wins behind him showed just why he is aka as the greatest of all time in that one moment. He was having none of Marc's b.s and contrary to what almost any other less winning rider would do in the same situation and roll off just a touch, he unhesitatingly twanged the GO wire tight against the stop and gunned it through that gravel trap for yet another win.
Mental advantage...the Boss.

Oh dear. PC version referred to though. Other reviews for consoles suggest basics (graphics and physics 1080p 60fps) decent but the game is short on the content present in previous versions. All irrelevant to me unfortunately because **** you Sony and Logitech.

Licensed games are often drama, every year they add one, two new things and that's about it. The bikes still sound like lawnmowers in MotoGP 15.
Fortunately in reality it is as exciting as it can be, now that Rossi and Lorenzo have equal points in the championship, anything can happen. The last time they had the same amount of points was before Barcelona back in 2009, motorsports history was written that Sunday.
So fingers crossed for the British race at Silverstone in two weeks!

I finally got around to watching the Australian Moto GP. WOW! One of the best races I've ever seen.
The whole race is a highlight video, so much action through out the race.

I have been a bit slow to comment here of late.
F1 has been mostly meh this year although as a Hamfan I am mightily pleased with his attaining his 3th World title. Go Lulu.
The main and ongoing interest in F1 this year has come from the off track shenanigans with RedBull pissing on thier engine suppliers before sorting out an alternative going forward. Unsurprisingly, the other engine manufacturers have proved unwilling to compromise their operations by doling out motors to an outfit that would A) most likely grease them all in competition and B) get all the flak if they don't accomplish A).
2017, when new "go faster" rules will pertain, can't come soon enough for me although past experience has led me to never under estimate the F.I.A's ability to fuck things up even further, rules wise.
On the MotoGP front it has been a very good year...until Sepang.
Rossi fanboy that I am, his diatribe aimed at Marquez at the Malaysian GP's pre-race press conference accusing him of riding to favour Rossi's team-mate and fellow Spaniard-whom-he-does-not-have-a-beef-with, Lorenzo, at the previous Oz G.P was at the very least, ill advised. For those that don't know (anyone holidaying in Siberia at the time for instance) this possible paranoia erupted during the Malaysian GP when Rossi appeared to lose the plot with Marquez during the race and possibly, maybe definitely, allegedly, deliberately, booted him off the track. Rossi maintains that Marquez has run spoiling tactics against him during the latter part of the season and I would sort of trust someone of his experience to be the best judge of if he is being "messed about" with on track although he is Italian, so.....
In the long run, none of this will harm MotoGP, probably quite the opposite. The press revels in this kind of shit. Rossi's rep won't be hurt either, ha8ers gonna h8 init. Moto GP is not crown green bowls and as a biased fan, I think Marquez probably deserved a kick up the arse anyway. I.m.o he is ignorant of others on track, a dangerous liability and possibly an arrogant wee **** to boot. Time will tell.
Edit: A big hurrah goes to Danny Kent in the Moto3 class for being the first British motorcycle champeen of the World since Barry Sheene in 1977.

Tbh i only followed the last race on twitter. I was pretty pissed initially. That little fkr MM (yeh imo he will likely eclipse the current crop of greats, but i was fuming) what gives him the right to influence the result, if it was Danni vs one of the Yamaha guys i can understand him doing what he did to help his team (not the crashing of anyone though) So initially thought he should have left them to battle fairly, if not by choice by suggestion from higher powers of the MotoGP. I would have said its blatantly obvious what he's doing, and MM could have started from the rear. Also a 2 yr ban was agreed upon by me and my mates haha. But i cant say that Jorge wouldn't have won if Marquez didn't put his two bob in and I can't say Jorge didnt deserve to win it. I think if Rossi came 2nd or 3rd to Jorge winning the race it would be more memorable for the wider MotoGP community, after starting from the rear. But 4th was still a great ride for the 9x champ. Anyways I'm hoping Pedrosa is fit both physically and mentally and he can compete at 100% all year (i placed a bet he'd one day win the title after his initial season in top grade, his battles with Rossi were awesome. Hes seemed to have broken every bone in his featherweight body several times each, always hobbling back on the horse just to make me wince when he crashes)
