There are a few companies in the states that offer laps on a race track in an exotic car. Dream Racing and Exotic Driving Experience are a couple. On vacation in Florida last summer the wife bought me a few laps at the Disney racetrack. Being a Porsche fan I opted for the 997. It was quite fun and I felt I had just got used to the track when it was over. This was my first experience on a road course and driving a car that powerful. The paddle shifters are a bit different than most. Push in to upshift and pull back to downshift.
I got a cool video of my laps in-car with some telemetry:

I figure this track time will give me an advantage in the Carrera Cup race coming up.

Well I think it paid off. Yup all that real cash we spent improved my skills with the german rear engine setup. I was able to lead several races in the GTA Carrera Cup over the weekend and I attribute it to the 7 laps I did at Disney Raceway

Super cheap way to develop fundamental car control. I jump on every HPDE I can. Often you can "co-drive" someone elses car... Color me jealous anywho... I've had my eyes on an outfit that does something similar around Vegas with supercars. That and the rally schools, but those are like $5k for the sessions I want.

eh, I have visited a few autocross events and they have no appeal to me, and I enjoy many types of motorsports. Banging around a parking lot not getting out of 1st or 2nd gear doesn't get me excited. Maybe in karts be fun. Then it seems like they are an anal-retentive asshole convention with some douche worrying about what sway bar is on my car and if the letters taped to the door are the correct height within 1/16". I would rather go blast some mountain roads on my bike. The track rental was a once in a lifetime thing for me, I am glad I did it but will not go again. If I ever get rich I may do some track day laps. I do take my supermoto to the local kart track on occasion. $20 run as many laps as I want. It is fun and cheap. Backing it in on a 250cc bike is a thrill. Photos from a motard track day

Yeah you're not going stupid fast, but you have all kinds of opportunities to play with weight transfer, contact patch management, eye movement, etc. Rallyx is like autox but with 50% less pretentious and 100% more dirt... .that's my happy place. Karting is pretty badass but you're talking to some real money to get into a nice setup. Hence I'm not allowed to get into it. I codrive a couple cars for rallyx. Autox works with whatever is in the garage, sometimes to hilarious effect...
