Im xbox side, but i feel for you. This is going to happen on our side soon, as well. I am not making the jump to next gen. Im just too old. Even though im online at least 5 nights a week, ive got bills to pay and toys to buy for my kid. I cant spend half a grand on video games. My plan is to buy all the current gen games i want to play, pop em in for the update, and shelve them for later. There's still so many i havent played that i'll have video games for at least the next five or six years.

Better not happen on the xbox side...
Deciding to stop supporting Forza would be the last push I need to go SteamOS and be done with it.

Heh, no need to wait on the SteamOS. Lots of deals going on all the time. I just picked up 5 games in the last 2 weeks. Only spent around $50 for all of them.

The Steam Machine looks awesome. If the price is $150 or less I'm in. I just cannot do keyboard and mouse.
Im willing to to put money on 360 servers beginning the shutdown this year.

XBL is a very different, much more mature ecosystem than PSN. I'm pretty sure the heavy hitters would riot, loudly. Could happen though, we shall see... Steam Machine does indeed look awesome, but it's still a better deal to just build your own and throw free SteamOS on it. I'm waiting to see how those controllers work out. That said, if XBL goes full retard, I won't bother waiting. I've been on the fence about continuing on with consoles instead of just building a an HTPC and calling it a day. It won't take much to push me away from consoles for good at this point. With things like SteamOS offering console-like convenience, there is little redeeming value to paying insane markups on basic commodity hardware to play games that are artificially expensive with limited peripheral support. I'm just not seeing the value proposition for me personally anymore.

I like my 360 controller on my PC running Steam. Do not like the hardware I have been seeing for the Steambox so far. I already have an HTPC that I love, no need for a console do the same thing. As far as consoles go, l have been leaning n g towards PS4 this time around.

This affects me none. I own none of the games listed. All thought I will be taking a short break from GTA to catch up on God Of War.

SteamOS is just Linux at its core. Streamline Linux to just run games like a console does so it runs better. Until some unified video drivers come out from nVidia and AMD, it isn't going to mean much though.

I can't imagine it will be frustration free for a while, just like any packaged product.
