Not sure if this is going to go anywhere, its a small crew that are looking to setup a racing league... seems to be Xbox only though Here the Racing League Thread on GTAF and TOP RPM's Website... Not sure if this interests any of our Xbox racers, i know you guys are often looking to connect with new guys over on your side P.s. popped this in GTA Discussion rather than the GTAF thread section, but ill move it if needed

Doesn't look like anyone is biting. Sometimes these things are a wash because it is started by some kid with wild aspirations with a good idea but crap implementation. No real way of governing it. The guy only joined those forums 2 days ago.

Yup, thought the same myself and its often either a wash out to begin with, or loses interest after a few weeks.
Just thought id float the idea, I dont judge based on how long since joinin, I read the gtaf for months before I ever joined and posted, and without people joinin (of which were his target audience) of course it will go nowhere... Never be afraid to be a pioneer lol

Well, let's see if there's interest.
I think the whole thing smells like a way to drive traffic to an external forum/website. With luck I'll be proven wrong.
That said, I've had my nose in planning or participating SCCA events. What he has setup thus far doesn't sound too far out of whack. It's basic bracket racing with the default class delineations everyone already uses.
He's still missing some crucial details... like how are the races themselves going down and how are they structured? Is there anything novel about them? He's setting up a lot of overhead and asking people to play along. You need a compelling story as to why in order to get buy in. That means details about what to expect with the racing itself. Simple lap racing? Heats? Touge? Qualifiers?
For instance, I've been thinking about setting up traditional autocross courses for sedan/muscle car racing. Drift Kings is an example of speed and rhythm you could expect. Courses wouldn't be known until 30 minutes before the race. Multi-heat, simple bracket racing. I also have some ideas for using certain types of "placeables" in certain ways to serve as visual cues. That would be a lot of work and I don't want to do it without buy in. Figuring out classes and point distribution is like 30 seconds worth of work...

That's my point... IF I try my thing, it wouldn't be until I had a sample track I could throw out there. For my idea, the central point of buy-in hinges on the strength of the terms/symbols used in the design language for the track. That's the point of dealing with my overhead. Otherwise it just looks overly complicated and vague with no real point.... overhead for the sake of overhead. Do not want.
Sooo... maybe I'll get on board with this, maybe I won't. Depends on what they say next.
