Basically, I'm buying one.
I currently have a PS3 and a 48inch 1080P TV and some Mac computers.
I know some of you have been mentioning them etc..
But how do they work? Like what's the wiring set up like. Will I still be able to play on my tv or will I be playing on a mac screen?
PS3 > Capture Card > TV & Laptop PS3 > Capture Card > Laptop?
Planning to record our antics as we grow larger and get more structure...
Any replies appreciated.

Great news! Can't wait to see some PS3 RRR content.
I have no clue how they work, I'm just enthusiastic.

You can see my content in my signature. I have created a playlist of all RRR content I have created on the Xbox side of things that pertain to RRR. I have other games I have recorded in my channel also. I use the BlackMagic Intensity PCIExpress card. It uses all HDMI cables. It goes straight out of the Xbox into the PC. Then out of the PC straight into my HD TV. It has capabilities of doing Component(RGB) also. This records in RAW .avi format so make sure you have plenty of HDD space. I have mine feeding to a 3TB drive. The weekly challenges I was recording last night is a good example. Each race was right around 4.15 minutes, each one of those videos was around 3.5-4 gigs in size. I then use Sony Vegas to edit them and re-encode them into a format suitable to upload to YouTube. I can bring a 4 gig file down to around 160megs by using H264 codec.

I don't have a PC or anywhere to fit a PCIExpress card… So it would have to be USB or standalone… I'm on PS3 side, so there would be no conflict. And I don't want to have to buy and set up a PC just for content capture.

Do you have a Mac or laptop? They make two external Blackmagic capture devices. One is USB 3.0 and the other one is a Thunderport device specific for a MAC if that is the route you are going. link

Heu ashx
The one I linked you to in the gtaf pm convo we had about this is standalone I think. Its not a capture card but a hd pvr so records anythin output via hdmi, the does passthrough so you can just connect it between your ps3 and your tv

I've been looking into Capture Cards, but I guess HD PVR's are something entirely different! Thanks for the link tho Mo… Gonna see what I can do! Would be good if someone PS3 side had a card or 2 between them. Looking at the one you sent me (http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_hdpvr.html) I can't see it taking HDMI input, or would I need different cables?

If you only see yourself making two videos, then there isn't much use for anything, lol.

Is it really worth me spending at least £200 on a Capture card just to make a few videos… maybe not. I will keep looking, but £200 is a bit pricey for something that has such limited use for me...
