Even though I have access to skype most of time, albeit not between 7.00pm - 8.30 pm, the last few days I've felt quite lonely online. The invites on ps4 are screwed. When I ever invite someone to races or heists, they never send. My invites have come to absolute nil too. I've seen three/four invites to races with the crew out of the last few days. Psn messages can only hold about 10 messages, so anything older than around 24 hours gets lost in the abyss. Basically, ps4 is pants when it comes to being social for me. Messages are also about 5-10 minutes behind too. Mic was purchased though for heists but the mrs gets pissed off if she's watching tv and I'm chatting away.

The invite shit pff I'm getting sick of it. Don't think it's gonna help if we put a ticket in though cause there already know.

The invite lists need a seriously soon fix. A vicious circle is developing where people aren't seeing invites so they aren't hanging around to see who's actually on and doing stuff and then aren't there to send or receive invites when they do get through. I don't mic a lot or get particularly left out, I badger people with invites, join everything I can every which way and look under every rock for said people but I am frustrated by the pantsness of the system atm. Nevertheless, look out for me, I WILL be online at my usual times (having been on just once in the last 5/6 days) and I will be doing stuff and looking for people. After half hour online or several lobbies, things get a bit better and Rumness begins to break out. Gonna schedule a few things over the next couple weeks too so hopefully knowing that there IS something going on will see the gatherings happen a bit more fluidly. In the end tho, that biz needs fixing up. Recommend patience till it is.

What is this message stream that you're talking about? Is it like a giant group PM or is there yet some other form of communication through PSN?

Giant group PM Coach. Tested in a limited way early on.

I should have typed this earlier, but I've only really been using Skype with my old internet, while I use the new isp for racing. It seems that the setup is somehow balanced like that. When I've used cable to console and wifi to Skype it didn't go smoothly, seemed very lag happy. (Although I'm not 100% what why etc) So just wanted to let ya's know that is the reason. Regards to ps/R☆ yeh I'm hearing ya's and feeling ya's too. Sometimes it takes so long to join an invite that the lobby is finished when I get there, so I enjoy another 5-10mins holidays in the clouds. Spawn in garage, bamm an invite. Yay, accept straight away. (And the vicious circle of gta lobbys restarts with me in the clouds 5-10min. I've now started quickly messaging the host that I'm attempting to join before accepting the invite. I can also say I've been receiving invites last few days, 1 from don, maybe 2 or 3 from kid and half doz from empty. I accepted all. Dont think I got into any lobbies though. So im not dissin guys, its just our/my Internet/servers combos are pathetic. When I see an inv, either thru PS4 or gtaV il usually respond with a text first, or (like hearing ya voice on a reverse charges phone call, I hang up & call u back) I bypass the invite and try joining on ur ps profile thru the PS button/friends online method, which does work usually.

The more lines of communication the better IMO. Each has their drawbacks though. With PSN you need to toggle away from game, not everyone is using/can use Skype and mics can be quiet noisy for other people in the house. For instance, Skype on my iPhone 4 is a steaming pile of cow dung. As for a mic, it doesn't help that there is literally literally 20 feet separating the misses while she's trying to sleep from me in the living room with my mic on. I don't default to having the mic on because apparently I also talk too loud. If I join a random heist lobby with peeps using them I will plug it in but otherwise it's off.

Jay, that’s the same reason I don’t use my mic, but I was granted special dispensation on Friday (it was an Easter miracle!). I check my PSN messages through the app on my tablet, which I have sitting by because I’m running skype on it, lol. The only downside to that is I get a notification on my TV, on my tablet, and on my phone. You should hear it when a message comes in, things start ringing all over the house. It was nice to be able to have a group message with Jay, Austin and Mac when we were running through heists. It kept Mac in the loop since she had no mic. It’s even nice to be able to discuss plans before getting online. The downside to a large group message for all of RRR is that I would hate to be getting notifications all day long while I’m at work, or even just going about my Saturday with my family. I’d have to think about it before joining in on something like that.

Does that mean we're going to have an April 10th miracle when we try to finish these up Friday?
The first day I installed Skype on my phone it was a particularly active day and I spent the first hour trying to turn off all the notifications because everyone was blowing up my phone. I've even tuned down a lot of the notifications on my laptop because I also use it for school and Skype message popping up every 2 minutes can be a tad distracting.

Quite a few on last night, myself not included, so I used my phone app to get a few of the guys in. Spam was strong for a minute or 2 as they said hi but very quickly settled back to zero. I do think that will be the pattern for it as it really doesn't function like a chat room. Seemed to give Empty and Dam a heads up to the fact that stuff was going on so from my own limited perspective it may well work as I hoped. The notification thing will be a bit of a pain at times but I see it as a trade off. Its certainly not going to have every single active Rummer in there nattering away so it wont ever reach Skype levels of spam. The new title says it all- RRR Noticeboard. In any case, I think it's worth a trial but we can only really see how it goes when we have more Skypeless added.

Actually a range of notification settings on the phone app. Mine will now vibrate only for messages, no sound, everything else it will ignore.

Seemed to give Empty and Dam a heads up to the fact that stuff was going on And i gotta give a massive thanks to you for that Cuz. I doubt I'd have even realised there was that many rummers on line. tbh i was cheering when i somehow linked up with Don & Empty for a race earlier that day/night. ( So the NoticeBoard we stay in it, but when not wanting notifications, we can change settings for that thread on ps4, which should stop the phone/tablets ringing too. When re connected just turn notifications back on? idk, i heard someone talking about this earlier) Cheers Cuz <THANKS MATE!

Just use the said notice board for general updates, if you wanna chat to an individual (or group) then set up an independent message or use skype ......simples.

This seemed to work to some extent last night although I think I confused all by setting up a side chat and a party !! the party function was purely to make it easier joining each others game not for communication and if you deleted the side chat before logging off you wont log on to billions of message updates next time.
Felt a lot more organized and not so lonely for me so thanks to everyone who joined ................

It did work, tho I was pretty damn confused having 5 lines of communication going- both msg threads, the party chat, Skype chat and WhatsApp with Gills. Did feel pretty happy having everyone on the other end of something or other tho. Even if I couldn't keep track of who was receiving what.
The party chat interested me most tbh, being able to talk to people who weren't in the lobby at all. Made a big difference to me as I wasn't receiving invites for the most part. Big shame that you have to prioritise party or game but I think having everyone in a party and prioritising that, whether on the mic or not might be better than talking in game...

Sounds like you needed a secretary to man the lines Cuz With the party chat, what they were doing to get people into a race (when most other methods failed) is joining the party, from there joining the group in a lobby, then once they were in the right place, leaving the party so others who needed to join could do so. That even worked for me twice. But if there's a way to join that isn't rockstar created, that works more often than not. Eg wanting to join a particular friend or race lobby. Don't use OPTIONS/FRIENDS/JOIN, instead use PS BUTTON/FRIENDS ONLINE/GTA5 JOIN. This way seems to work much better

I wonder if the recent match making problems, and the Social Club issues are all related to the PC release. Hopefully this gets cleared up once the PC version is out.

We all know and love the PS3 chat room. Despite its lag and bizarre word censor it gives us a meeting place to group together for races, PLs, events and random banter. Well, there is no such thing on the PS4. A few of us have been experimenting with our chat options on the PS4 and they aren’t great. Party Chat only allows 8 people. There are the regular text messages, which can be sent to multiple people, but that isn’t a great replacement for the PS3 chat room either. So we’ve been testing using a Skype chat room while playing. It’s available on all popular operating systems, phones and tablets, it’s easy to set up and works well for text chat rooms. Its also a great way to keep everyone together during the console split. To join it, first of all install Skype on your computer or phone/tablet. Then add me: fnordthe23rd and I’ll add you to the room. Let me know if your Skype name is different to your forum or PSN name so that I know to accept your request. If you have any problems ask here and someone with the same computer or phone will help you out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR NEW RECRUITS
When you have finished posting your application, you will be eligible for access to our Red Rum Racing II Chatroom. This chatroom is for initiates and recruits to get to know each other, send invites when online and be able to coordinate meetups. To be added to the RRR2 Skype Chatroom, add speedster0595 on Skype. I added speedster on Skype and I didn't get an invite

My Skype still just refuses to work. I can read post and those have been coming in at a good normal pace (I think) but when I try to post, it just sits there in "pending" phase. I can wait for quite a bit and still nothing and by then the conversation has moved on to a different topic making my witty response completely moot. Anyone have any ideas why I can't get my post to Skype to actually send on time. I am using a android tablet with android 5.0.2 and everything else on the tablet works flawlessly. I have tried different Wi-Fi connections (my tablet is Wi-Fi only) and that seems to make no difference. I have uninstalled and re-installed. Just out of ideas. I will say that I'm very happy to see us using the PSN message board too as that seems to work fine for me.

@thundertorque From my own personal experience and the majority of people I know who use Skype. The general consensus seems to be that the Skype app for tablet / phone is just plain shit :/
I myself use the desktop version for my PC and hardly have issues, if this is an option available to you, I'd go with it mate.

It's not you Thun. A while back I was heisting with Coach and Austin and my laptop decide to completely freeze to the point where I couldn't even boot the thing. I went to my backup iphone skype app and the thing was just terrible. Was doing exactly like you described. I'd post something and it would take 5 minutes to send it and in the meantime 15 new messages came across so it basically looked like I was skype-lagging.

Yup my shitty tablet did the same hence why it's now a kids toy, makes no sense as they use it to stream movies from nowtv, which in my technically retarded mind would be a bigger process than (arse)skype
